Still Insane, But Feeling Better

Our Czech Miracle of Absolute Insanity’s feeling better, according to Khan(!).

“Feeling good, very good I would say,’’ Hasek said. “Big progress compared to two days ago. I feel ready to go. Decision will be made if I’m playing this weekend or not.’‘

Asked if he could play Saturday vs. Nashville, Hasek said, “Practice just finished. I’ll see how I feel two, three hours from now, but I could do anything I want on the ice, move any way, go up and down, so I didn’t have any problems.’‘

The DD captain also reports that, not surprisingly, neither Homer or McCarty will play this weekend.

Holmstrom went on the ice before practice and tried to push off hard. It didn’t feel good, so he left the ice almost immediately.

“It’s been a week today, so I thought it was going to be good,” Holmstrom said. “I guess I’m taking baby steps. It’s frustrating.”

Homer’s injury worries me.  Need Homer, Cleary, Hasek all healthy if we hope to make playoff noise.  I really don’t care about McCarty.  Would be great to have him back and wish the best for him personally, but I don’t see a great increase over what we get with Downey.

Rafalski, Homer, now Draper…I was not aware that “groin injuries” were contagious.

TD, I couldn’t be happier about Homer being out.

With Vancouver and Minnesota basically playing .500 hockey right now, Nashville’s going to be (unsuccessfully) fighting hard and dirty for the 8th seed.  Meanwhile, the rest of the Central, maybe with the exception of Columbus, isn’t going to let up on the chance to take a parting shot at the Wings. I can’t think of a single player on this team - Datsyuk and Z included - who’s going to take more punishment in the home stretch.

I say rest up, Homer, you have until April to get as healthy as possible…because somewhere out there Pronger is thowing his feces, attacking his reflection, and fellating Colin Campbell, just biding his time until he gets to make your head bleed again.

Rumbear, the worst part was FSW’s graphic yesterday showing the injured players.  They had a single word each describing the injuries to Hasek, Draper, Homer and Cleary. “Back, Groin, Groin, Jaw.”

It looked like Thomas’ to-do list.

Gabe, the second-best thing about your post (after making fun of Thhhhommm) is the fact that the graphic you describe was enough to actually grab my fiance’s attention. Needless to say, her and I proceeded to make all the childish types of jokes about it that us 19 A2Y faithful make on a regular basis.

Groins… The butt of a million jokes (catch the Thhhommaaass reference anyone?) and half of the way we all came into existence.  I think being “hot” and having solid goal tending going into the playoffs is part of the key to getting to the finals. I’m worried about getting to that point personally… Getting out of the west is the challenge - unless some really streaks in the east during the playoffs.  I don’t care about the presidents trophy, home ice is great, a better chance at winning it at home again, I really think the better we do leading up to the second season the better we will do long term. Dallas last night was basically a playoff game. We came back from a 3-1 deficit to win 5-3. Four unanswered goals. Four. Nothing I see in the MSM mentions that. Kronner up front in Homers place? Solid. I am starting to think everyone out in February was almost - almost - a good thing. Ozzie will get it back and close out the season while allowing our single seat mental ward to get over whateverthehellisreallywrong.

February really sucked for me. Grandpa passed and for thelife of me I could not get anything from the wings as so far as a game dedication for him…don’t blame them after that article on espn.com. I think we have a good spirit on our side when it comes down to it. And I think he is watching out for the second season - the playoffs.

GO WINGS!!!

Dallas was absolutely a ‘statement’ game, and I think it’ll go some way to restoring the healthy respect playoff opponents should have for the winged wheel, though it’ll mean we won’t have the element of surprise.  The other part of the equation will be pushing back against the cheapshots we’re bound to get from the rest of the Central, playoff-bound or not.  If we can keep up with them physically, keep Downey and D-Mac busy, then the liberties that were taken last year will be a little fewer and further-between.  If that happens, I don’t expect to hear Corey Perry running his motormouth much this year.  He may be a punk-ass bitch, but he’s not stupid enough to let his ego write checks his body can’t cash.

What he said above: Let’s go Wings!
