Despite the fact that the Tigers’ season swirled finally and undeniably down the frigging Forsberg yesterday when Magglio Ordonez snapped his ankle? I found something that will make you happy. Happy like firetrucks and puppies and hookers in Spring? That kind of happy? No. But warm and satisfied, at least.
Only in Denver would the 12 remaining fans of a garbage franchise band together at a free internet Vegan cafe with their down jackets in July to discuss just how immature Wing fans are. It would appear our little sister friends took great offense at our Dater-hate. From the simpering masses at Mile High Hockey...

It is possible that there are great players that don’t wear the winged wheel in the NHL.
Possible? Of course. Mentioned on an admittedly biased Wing blog? No need. And to take that a bit further, are there “great players” in Denver? Absolutely not. And that would include everyone’s favorite 40-game wonder, “Andy”.

The CCHA is a little smarter than trying to compete with bowl games on New Years day.
The CCHA also has the luxury of having two fanbases within an hour of the stadium.

What the NHL should do is to hold the Winter Classic the week(end) after the Super Bowl when there’s dick going on otherwise. But that would take a commissioner with his head not permanently lodged in his own rear end.

a game at michigan stadium would be incredible. but against who? little brother again? the dive? pinky’s wild?
If the BJs would put up a fight once in a while, that’d be a natural choice at the Big House….but the league would never go for it. Tiny market. No national draw.

The obvious choice for Detroit’s next (possible) outdoor game would probably be Toronto…but you’re never going to see it because NBC insists on two American based teams playing…
....which is also stupid.

Hopefully at some point, NBC realizes the draw potential of Canadian clubs for American hockey fans, especially if it happens at the Big House.
Still, I agree with the idea of moving it to the week after the Super Bowl.

If the Wings were smart they’d sign Joe Thorton. Get rid of small players like Zetterberg and Datsyuk, and sign some men over 150 pounds.
Datsyuk and Zetterberg would bring some offers on the trading block. Its not too late.
I’m tired of watching the Wings get pushed around like a little girl or a navy CPO.
And did you see what Zetterberg wore at his wedding party? Were those jail house stripes? Was his woman going to chain him up later?

All I know is that it’s nice to be worried about having TOO much depth on the bottom of the lineup again. I still like Asham, but I’m not sure there would be room. If he doesn’t have a contract by the time camp starts, I’d like to see him get the same invite Downey has to fight for a spot on the Wings.

I always thought they should have the outdoor game the off Sunday between the conference championships and the super bowl. Not much going on that Sunday, and Bros looking for something to watch.

I love the Winter Classic….LOVE IT…but it still baffles me as to the NHL would pick a day where the very fringe fans we’re trying to attract is undoubtedly going to be watching college football.
