Thanks Gramps!

What a pleasant surprise, after braving America’s freeways for ten hours today, to come home and find that Grampa Pinhead had done my job for me.  Here are his thoughts on the last few days of Wing activity.  I’ll be back in the morning with a recap and more pithy brilliance.

Tame Game, Lame game

DET/StL game 2 of 8 this season, another divisional mismatch (thanks little gary),
was only onesided in the SOG, and puck possession departments, as both teams
were very careful not to hurt each other because there were 6 more games coming
up.  The Wings may have been saving it up for the Preds on Sat., but the game
looked more like ‘bring on Columbus’ to the fans.  It wasn’t exactly like watching
paint dry, more like watching snow melt in the driveway.  The ‘Dominator’ turned
in a performance that sent the fans home looking forward to the return of those
‘Tim Cheveldae nightmares’

I shall return.

One day after Joey Harrington had his way with the Lions, Manny Legace returned
to shutout the shootout with 41 saves on 43 shots.  Adding Legace to the Legacy,
he seemed to be grinning throughout the game.  Interviewed by the local sports station
right after the game, he was very professional.  Manny said he missed playing for
the Wings, and thanked all the fans for their support and mentioned all the signs in
the stands, which were never mentioned during the game by the broadcasters.

And another one

Tonight (thanks again little gary), game 2 of another 8 game series, perhaps a
little more rivalry as the Wings swing into the Gay to play the Preds.  My guess is
a 50/50 chance of another lame, tame game.  Chris Mason should be in the net for
the preds, Vokoun has hit another stroke of bad luck and will be out for some time
wtih thumb surgery.  Mason has come up big in the past, and he should have it all
together facing the Wings.

Give it a rest

Rumors of Hasek starting tonight, the second night in a row, may be an indication
that management is no longer concerned about his re-injuring his groin.  Considering
his performance against the Blues, we should all be concerned with his 41 yr old eyes
and reflexes.

Good for Manny!  And congratulations to the Wings’ fans who showed a lot of class in welcoming Manny back to the Joe.  He is a class guy, and he worked hard for the Wings in his 6 years here.

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977.  No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y.  Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation.  There are 19 readers of A2Y.
