The Captain’s 500th

As the NHL celebrates the 50th anniversary of Rocket Richard’s 500th goal, we will do what we always do here.  Turn it into a Red Wing issue.  Because everything revolves around the Wings, etc, etc.

My gift to you on this balmy Friday?  Steve Yzerman’s 500th.

Thanks, Chief.

In addition to the obvious (scoring #500 against Patty Wah), I noticed a few other highlights:

- Vladdy among those congratulating Stevie Y

- It was weird seeing Keith Primeau in the winged wheel again

- Barry Smith with a few patches of dark hair

Oh yeah, I forgot to ask…

Where did you find this, and do they have one on Gordie’s 500th?

(Added weird highlight: Kevin [Ticker] Hodson in the background on the bench looking not too happy.)

Doesn’t everybody?  Even my son misses him.  My son is seven and barely saw him play.  But he cried the day he learned Yzerman hung them up.

While we’re celebrating 500’s, I’d like to take a moment to celebrate the 500th time I’ve cursed the name of NHL honcho Gary Bonapartemen.  Since yesterday.

Late to the point of unwatchable games (no, 1:15 am EST to end a game?  Perfect)?  Check.

Study-hall level officiating (shoot for 50 PPs in a game.  Just to say you did it once)?  Check.

Ridiculously unappealing division opponents (Columbus, Chicago AND Nashville?  Oooooh)?  Check.

Retarded scheduling by the legaue office (9 straight away games for St. Louis in March, three 4+ game west coast swings for Detroit?  Wonderful)?  Check.

Oh, but we have HEATED SKATE BLADES now.  Maybe.  We’ll see.  Dare to dream.

*#$%@&.
You.

I hate you, you smiling douchebag dwarf.

^^ bwaahhhahahahaa.

The alliteration of douche and dwarf is classic… Chief, reward this man by prominently quoting his poetic brilliance…

I’m with you SRT. We have to come up with a means to bring brilliance like that to the fore.
