The Inevitable Assumption: Schneider Back To Wings?

Me? I think Uncle Mike and Matt Schneider are not the best of pals.  I think, that despite Schneider’s abilities to be abrasive when necessary, Babcock was not disappointed when 23 left after the Kick to the Groin in ‘07.  I think the coach wanted a bit more stay at home stuff from Schneider, considering a future that included Kronwall, Ericsson and maybe even Lebda as guys who would join the rush.  Schneider was getting older and we all know Uncle Mike likes ‘em young.

But now?  Scoring’s an issue, as it usually is at closing time.  The lights are on.  The chairs are on the tables.  Traits that may have warned you off at 10 are now overlooked.

And Tick Tock’s tempted. You know he is.

And now the rumors start.

Yahoo

“We’re trying to help him out,” assistant general manager Lorne Henning said. “He still has that fire and wants to play. Some teams have shown interest in him but everyone has to fit their salary cap around him.”

It is believed the Detroit Red Wings have interest in Schneider since three of its defensemen are out with injuries.

Of course it’s “believed.”  But is it realistic?  He’s signed for 1.55. Half the season’s gone. It’s a one year deal so somebody smart tell me what kind of hit that would be.  Less than a million? Probably.

It might be time to roll the dice. And, seriously, even at this hour?  She’s a helluva lot better looking then her friend, the one wearing the 22 jersey.

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977.  No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y.  Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation.  There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature.  Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
