I’ll be editing this as we move along.
Gordie Howe, Lifetime Achievement Award? Could it have gone to anyone else?
Lidstrom, Norris? Check. Legendary. 2nd Best Ever? Maybe. Maybe Better.
Datsyuk, Selke? Check. “Long speech, but English is little.”
Zetterberg, Selke? Denied, but with a big old consolation trophy.
Datsyuk, Byng? Check. There was no doubt.
Chelios, Masterson? Denied, but with a Cup, and still with a job…allegedly.
Uncle Mike Babcock, Adams? Denied, but there is no doubt, none, who the best coach in the NHL is.
It’s a dynastic Live Blog.

He just edged out Cindy Crosby for that award by the way!!!
Congrats Gordo!!!!
Posted by Scott H from Kalamazoo on 06/12/08 at 07:03 PM ET
They should not only be giving this award to Howe, but also naming it after him.
Posted by Modnar from Cincinnati, OH on 06/12/08 at 07:03 PM ET
Gordie wins an unanticipated award!!

Damn. I knew Lil Gary was an ass. But the guy is just plain creepy too.
Is he afraid Gordie’s going to elbow him?
Posted by jrl123 on 06/12/08 at 07:05 PM ET
Oh…and one more thing….Gary would have looked better in that green dress the other dude was wearing.
Maybe next time.
Posted by Scott H from Kalamazoo on 06/12/08 at 07:05 PM ET
Gordy smirked at Gary like he was about to sock him.

Kicking Gordie Howe off the stage? Not cool. If Mr. Hockey wants to ramble on all night, you let him!
Posted by Modnar from Cincinnati, OH on 06/12/08 at 07:11 PM ET
Grandpa would be proud!
Oh eyeris, so would mine. My grandpa was the one who used to bring my dad to the old Olympia, and my dad brought my brother and I there. And from there on we were hooked. I got to meet Gordie and Ted Lindsey at the retirement ceremony for Sid Abel’s jersey in the Olympia Room at the Joe. But I was completely starstruck and didn’t think to get an autograph until they had left.

I like Iginla (most of the time), but I’m thinking AO wins the Hart.

I have 2 autographs, Gordie Howe and Bruce Martyn. About 1993 Gordie toured 20+ minor league hockey cities just promoting hockey. After the game he had about 300 people lined up in the hallway and he stayed there until he signed for every last person. Mr. Hockey indeed. I got his autograph on a Richmond Renegades ECHL puck. Carried his own liquid silver pen.

O Rly?
Kids like whiny, cheap-ass beyotches?
I see…

That was pretty classy of Iginla. Except for the part about he’s not sticking around. Lol.

That’s the thing that kills me, I know he would have given me an autograph if I had asked for one. But I was so starstruck I couldn’t speak properly. What a night it was. A ton of hockey legends were there. I know Yzerman’s number retirement was really emotional and I wish I had been able to see that one, getting to see Sid’s number retired was pretty freaking awesome.

Have a PBR, J.J. - it’ll help, I swear.
