The List Grows: Holmstrom Out Too

Joining the Wings suddenly expanding list of injured players? Tomas Holmstrom.  Hasek due to play more than expected, as well.

MLive/Khan(!)

Niklas Kronwall (groin), Tomas Holmstrom (groin) and Chris Osgood (hand) didn’t practice Monday in Vancouver and, according to Mike Babcock, won’t dress Tuesday against the Canucks. Babcock said none of the injuries is significant and expects all three to be ready for Friday’s game in Calgary. Forward Josh Langfeld, recalled from Grand Rapids, will make his Wings debut Tuesday. Babcock said Dominik Hasek, who’ll aim for his third consecutive shutout Tuesday, might play more games than planned because he’s not getting much work in his starts (averaging 20 shots against).

Hopefully this will mean lots of ice time for Hudler, Filppula and Kopecky.  Hudler could move up to the top line (replacing Williams) and Kopecky could get moved up to the third line (if Franzen gets bumped up to replace Holmstrom).

If Kronwall is out that probably means Lilja is in the lineup for the first time in a long while.

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977.  No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y.  Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation.  There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature.  Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
