Detroit Red Wings coach Mike Babcock confirmed he’s sticking with his original plan: Goaltender Jimmy Howard will start Saturday in Colorado. It will be Howard’s first appearance in three weeks, since a 5-3 loss to St. Louis in Sweden.
Babcock said Brad May will return to the lineup. May fought Cody McLeod when the teams met Saturday in Detroit.
Babcock said he wasn’t sure who May would replace or whether there would be another change. Justin Abdelkader appeared to be the odd-man out from the line combinations in practice, but that’s not definite.

Gator needs to be in Grand Rapids. Let May and Eaves battle for the other sole spot. As I said last night, I know hindsight’s 20/20, but if May had been in the lineup last night, taking care of business, then the running of Ozzie may have stopped, resulting in Ozzie never being run on the GTG, and we’d all be celebrating with hookers, warm beer and bacon.
And after thinking about it, I agree with Uncle Mike and Drew. I only thought Ozzie should play because even though it’d be his seventh straight start, this hasn’t been the typical seven games every other day type stretch. But Jimmah needs to get in there, get his feet wet again, because the onger he sits, the more mind games he plays with himself.

So this is the first chance I’ve had to post since the game, as I came home and promptly continued getting more drunk than I was at the game (I had to drive). A few thoughts.
- I really feel that we dominated most of the game, and yes that seems to be a theme, but the one comfort I take from our slow start to the season is that in the last few games we have seemed to find again how to play, however giving up leads late. The point though, is that we still know how to play. There were some times of pressure in our zone (and especially at the end of the 3rd) but for the most part we were out passing, out shooting, and out chancing them. The shots on goal stat for that game didn’t tell the whole story in my opinion, we had WAY more scoring chances than them. Now we just have to bury these *#$%@& games.
- Everyone seems to be talking about a bullshit call on the 2nd Coyotes goal, pushing Ozzie in the net, which we all thought at the game too, but I don’t know why anyone seems to not be talking about their FIRST goal. Every Wings fan around me, including us, were *#$%@& screaming that it should have been no goal due to a high stick. I haven’t seen a single replay of it, including the ones they showed repeatedly there, that doesn’t look like he blatantly hit the puck in out of the air with a high stick. There’s a reason they reviewed it so long, and in my opinion they absolutely got the call wrong. We were *#$%@& livid.
- That being said, their goals came on a bullshit high stick that should have been no goal, a garbage scrum goal where it looked like Ozzie was pushed in the net, and a fluke bounce into the net off Ozzie’s stick.
That loss did NOT come from us getting outplayed. I am still frustrated with the lack of will late in the game, like the other games where we blew the lead, but the domination has returned, it just needs to continue for 60 instead of 54 minutes.
Now to whoever said in the the other thread that it seemed like wings fans want to jump ship because of a slow start, if there are those fans out there, they aren’t fans. Wild horses couldn’t drag me away from this team if we finished last in the conference for the next ten years.

Chief, you know that thing they say about imitation being the sincerest form of flattery? Well Ms. St.James must be flattering you up to her forearm. Clearly she’s a reader, and made a feeble attempt to bring up the ‘Tuzzi incident as you prescribed a couple of days ago. Though, she didn’t bother asking anyone about it. Just kind of brought it up. Amusing, nonetheless.

Fine, put Jimmy in. It Shouldn’t matter one way or another. Team shows up for once, notch a W. If not….well, we’ve seen enough examples of that this season already.
Osrt, I might be at that one. Buddy’s g/f has connections with the B’s organization, but we haven’t heard anything yet.. We might just buy some tix to that one even if we don’t get some freebies. I’ll letcha know if I’m gonna be there.

Hells Ya I’ve had a couple of IPAs at the Capital Ale House and working on a Bell’s Expedition Stout right now at home, what a freaking genius is Larry Bell. So I’m a little pissed in the British (Andrew A3, I mean English, I know you detest the anemic terminology “British”, so English it is) sense of the word (see, I really was trying to listen and keep up with you, as impossible as that is for a mortal).
I am getting rid of the kitschy “The Prisoner” avatar and reverting to something reflective of my mood.
I said about all I could say. I scolded all of you (it was very hidden) for engaging in frivolous discussion abooot the post career honors for one Chris Osgood, because, face it, right now on October 23, 2009 I don’t give a shit abooot such long term philosophications. I care abooot winning now, on October 24, 2009, bitches.
I told you the Wings were defining their season character of temporary brilliance followed by inability to keep the game winning puck out of our net, but nooooo, Osgood’s future legacy was more important.
I blame each and every one of you for your failure to focus on the NOW, Bitches, b/c with enough of you concentrating on the right thing Lebda wouldn’t have backhanded that puck around Ericccsssson to a Coyote, and, ultimately into our net, he would have chipped it forward along the boards to center ice instead of being a Freaking Douchebag.
So we suffer another stiff 3 point turnaround in the standings.
That’s Failtastic.
The Wings proceeded to repeat exactly what I was trying to warn everyone abooot. So I’m drinking and ranting cuz that’s all I CAN do.
