What, him, worry?
“I’m not concerned one bit, as long as Ozzie just gives himself a break, goes home and enjoys his family and gets on with it,’’ Babcock said. “He’s a real good goalie, knows how to play; and by his numbers, he knows how to win.
“And yet, to me, he’s being way too hard on himself, letting one goal affect his mindset.’‘
Uh huh. Strong possibility my plane hasn’t landed by the time you read this. I’ll try to catch up sometime in the third period.
It’s a Live Blog bitches.

YEAH!!!!! F-ing christmas lights…
Not sure if you guys know…I’m the bitterness that represents the 19….

“Oh, well maybe I’m just projecting. I can’t stand white people. gulp”
Yeah, me either….even though I are one. We also seem to be responsible for some lousy goalkeeping tonight, as well.

Unless they’re on disco biscuits at DEMF.
lol. I’m touched (hetero) that you remembered.
I’m about to send some special biscuits to this team as well.

Today I was thinking this team is almost missing it’s soul…or heart…or both? We’re gutless when it come time to ante up.
You know this team’s complexion is going to change drastically after the trade deadline—you think a bunch of kids with something to prove are going to play like what we’re seeing now?
That’s assuming we don’t try to make a play for a goalie, but I don’t see that happening. If neither Ozzie nor Conklin shape up, I think the temptation for Kenny to call this a lost season and place his faith in the netminders we have in the pipeline would be too great rather than take the big hit for a franchise goalie.
Byfuglien running his yap. Doesn’t matter—right about now I want to gruesomely murder the Belle Tire mascot and anthing else cute and Wings-associated that gets in my way.

These lads need an ass whoopin’. Scotty style. Bench someone for a period. Ya don’t like that, play g’damnit… or sit a game. Make an example outta someone I don’t care. Make point ferchristsakes.
The guy with the “C” on his jersey outta be raising holy Cain too.
Take this record and flush it ladies. You didn’t earn it.

hawks are putting so much pressure on us right now we can’t make a line change let alone a scoring chance1

I about one beer short of turning off the tube n lap top.
No need to get up early to go freeze in the cold with a hangover totally pissed about a sissy hockey team is there?
Posted by MOWingsfan19 on 12/06/08 at 08:26 PM ET
Ok…this is a serious problem. I’m really starting to get scared.
Posted by Tyler from Arizona on 12/06/08 at 08:26 PM ET
Watching this game I get the feeling the Hawks are playing our system better than we are.
Scotty’s fingerprints??

lol. I’m touched (hetero) that you remembered.
I’ve been reading the blog for a while and know all you 19, I decided to stop watching and start participating by offering the Douche Canoe ticket contest for the playoffs. Figured I’d start with a bang.
Now with all this line juggling, this is what I’d like to see:
Datsyuk – Zetterberg – Holmstrom
Samuelsson – Franzen – Hossa
Filpulla – Hudler – Cleary
grinders in the lineup
Posted by VooX from Behind the Bar in the Hasek Club Car on 12/06/08 at 08:27 PM ET
We can do this.
LET’S GO RED WINGS!!!
(Come on people…LET’S GO RED WINGS!!!! They may not be able to hear us…but LET’S GO RED WINGS!!!!!!)

I’ve seen Hudler make at least 5 solid neutral zone plays. I’m impressed.
Ohh…Z and Hoss did some good work there.

Maybe once they stop playing like the Little Sisters of the Poor Orphanage team. Right now it’s just pitiful, and they don’t deserve to win.
Posted by wingsfanindenver on 12/06/08 at 08:31 PM ET
Since Bab’s mixed up the lines we are starting to skate again.
Posted by hankyspanky40 from Michigan on 12/06/08 at 08:32 PM ET
Eh. Let’s go (clap clap) Red Wings…
Sorry. My heart’s not in it. It was one thing cheering on this team a long time ago when it was full of talentless guys who gave everything every night and still lost…it’s quite another to cheer on uber-talented players that are mailing it in.
Posted by AndrewFromAnnArbor from Fortress Europe on 12/06/08 at 08:32 PM ET
We need to skate and match the hawks intensity and we will climb back into this!
Posted by hankyspanky40 from Michigan on 12/06/08 at 08:33 PM ET

Mailing? That takes a lot of effort. How about texting it in?

Treestand at 6:30 at the latest… about 18 degrees with bow in hand.
I was just wielding the 30-06 a couple weeks ago however. Kaboom.
Posted by MOWingsfan19 on 12/06/08 at 08:34 PM ET
last few minutes showed some promise. we need to play like that through the entire third.
Posted by hankyspanky40 from Michigan on 12/06/08 at 08:34 PM ET
wingsfanindever…‘eff you my friend. We won’t win them all, but g-dmit….ahh..I see your point. You are right. We all know that we are going to make the playoffs… but at this pace can we live with it after a game or two…can the players? Lets just all be thankfull that we aren’t blues fans…or any other type of fans. We can sit here and pull this team apart like some redneck pulling pork around the corner from my house. God help us if we become complacent.
Posted by eyesris from Asheville, NC on 12/06/08 at 08:36 PM ET
Those last few minutes were okay, but then there was another bad shift at the end.
It’s like they refuse to think before they move the puck…they just keep throwing it to empty spots, or BS fancy moves and then Sammy realizes he forgot to take the puck with him and the Hawks have a 3 on 2 or Hossa tries to tiptoe through 5 Hawks and never gets a shot off anyway…so many dumb decisions and no attention to detail…
I do not want to see Hossa, Datsyuk and Holmstrom again. Put the Circus together, introduce the Hoss to the Mule. And tell them to play some god damn defense.
Posted by Tyler from Arizona on 12/06/08 at 08:36 PM ET
These lads need an ass whoopin’. Scotty style.
Mo, I had a very intelligent, if long winded response to this but the board lost it somehow.
Basically: we never should have let Scotty go to Chicago. We miss him this year especially.
Bench the D-man with the worst +/-. If it’s Nick, say it’s a charley horse, but let everyone in the locker room know.
But something that’s bothered me, and was mentioned here before. This is the same D-corps that nearly drove Michelle Therien to tears in a press conf. because he had no answer for the smothering D. How is it possible that those same athletes suddenly forgot to play? I think there’s a problem with McCrimmon’s system.
Posted by wingsfanindenver on 12/06/08 at 08:36 PM ET

Only funny thing I’ve read all night. We’ve got a roster of Malkins in the Finals last year. Work? Huh, nah just disappear on the ice for a game or 4

Got a good high-powered scope on it, MO? If so, I’ll buy you a season ticket to a seat high up in the upper bowl at the Joe. Maybe THEN this team’ll be motivated.

Is that a good thing or bad thing? Do you like the lines?
Those last few minutes were okay, but then there was another bad shift at the end.
We are not “finishing strong” as an old sensei used to say.

this is so frustating to get outplayed like that… hopefully we kept all the energy for the 3rd (i know this is very positive thinking!) ... a 3 goals outburst like thursday would be welcome!
Posted by yannick on 12/06/08 at 08:38 PM ET
They need to get back to playing their game! They did that the past two games and NEED to do it NOW! They started off good, controlling the puck, good passing, then 2 goals! I can;t stand it when the Wings start playing like they are lost because they are down a few goals…..Play YOUR GAME WINGS!
Posted by dwingsrock on 12/06/08 at 08:40 PM ET
Only funny thing I’ve read all night.
Ahh, the silver lining.
Posted by monkey from here to Timbuktu on 12/06/08 at 08:42 PM ET
With all the talk of McLellan being in San Jose responsible for this, or the importation of McCrimmon, we do seem to have overlooked the very relevant point…Could it be we’re missing Scotty more than anything? Was he more integral to the team even after retirement than we thought, than we were led to believe?
Posted by AndrewFromAnnArbor from Fortress Europe on 12/06/08 at 08:42 PM ET
pathetic (adjective): feeble, woeful, sorry, poor, pitiful, lamentable, deplorable, contemptible, inadequate, paltry, insufficient, insubstantial, unsatisfactory
That just about covers it!
There are only three NHL-level players on the ice for the Wings tonight: Cleary, Happy & Stuart. The rest would do well to spend the night in G.R. with Cheli.
I’m not sure I’ve ever been more disgusted with a Wings team than I am with this super-talent-laden team that’s on the ice right now. I’m not sure pathetic even begins to adequately describe the way they’re playing.
Personally, I hope the Hawks kick their frickin’ ass in the third. I think 8-2 would be a real nice number for these boys to ponder between now and next Wednesday. Maybe two straight days of skating without the puck would do everyone some good.
Posted by OlderThanChelios from Grand Rapids on 12/06/08 at 08:42 PM ET
VooX…no….I think it’s time to switch them up. Now more than ever. This is a statement game…one more with them before we play the hallmark game before the playoffs start…

Tall towers and deer rifles can be true motivators. I’m just saying.

9 power scope is more than adequate. I’ve sat in the farthest seat behind one of the goals at the Joe, so I can say that with absolute certainty. A full on fast guy like Draper isn’t faster than a whitetail deer running flat out…. and that is running for it’s life mind you.
Maybe you’re onto something Andrew. Nevermind banishing Rumbear to the galley to make pizza all season. Lets make a game at the Joe like an episode of the Running Man kinda thing. Slack a shift, kaboom. Warning shot. Miss the net again Sammy, you’re getting one in the leg.

Just as a closing note before I go back to the torture of watching these idiots waltz their way through the third period, here’s a little stat for everyone to consider. To date, the Wings team +/- is +6. The Sharks team +/- is, wait for it, +96!

Not to be totally gross, but my last kill was a heart and double lung shot. Just sayin’.

“Well I come from the old town baby,
where all the kids are crazy.
If I remain then I’m to blame.
But if you should ever need me,
I’ll go where’er you lead me.
It’s all the same, the same old game.”
Not sure any of you know this band.. Good guys. Stayed at my house on tour. I think this lyric defines us, the 19. I’d tell you not to google it…but I know you guys.
We did 3 in the third last time…why not…like…4-5 this time around?
Shhhhhheit.

Maybe the Wings should call Sam Bernstein.
