Uncle Mike’s Not Stressed. Are You?

What, him, worry?
“I’m not concerned one bit, as long as Ozzie just gives himself a break, goes home and enjoys his family and gets on with it,’’ Babcock said. “He’s a real good goalie, knows how to play; and by his numbers, he knows how to win.
“And yet, to me, he’s being way too hard on himself, letting one goal affect his mindset.’‘
Uh huh. Strong possibility my plane hasn’t landed by the time you read this. I’ll try to catch up sometime in the third period.
It’s a Live Blog bitches.

Ugh, I freaking hate the shoot out.
Posted by Jennemy of the Skate from putting the b*tches in the box on 12/06/08 at 09:35 PM ET
Improvement over last game only giving up 4 in regulation. woo.
Posted by MOWingsfan19 on 12/06/08 at 09:36 PM ET
It can’t be easy for Babcock to shoot ‘em with a big-caliber hit of the truth when he hasn’t got any ammo.
I can’t disagree Andrew, but this is where Uncle Mike is supposed to earn his pay. We should chip in and get him a WWSD (What Would Scotty Do) bracelet.
Posted by wingsfanindenver on 12/06/08 at 09:37 PM ET
Woo. Small heart attacks coming up.
Dats was hitting like crazy during the playoffs. Fedorov used to do the same. Anyone remember his hit on Darrien Hatcher!
Posted by Osrt on 12/06/08 at 09:37 PM ET
There’s at least 2 bullets in giving up 4 goals Andrew. Anything over 2 and someone should get shot.
Posted by MOWingsfan19 on 12/06/08 at 09:37 PM ET
Wow Andrew… If you have lived in GA then maybe….
Nope. Commie High, Ann Arbor, Michigan, Class of ‘96. Though the guy that I knew can sometimes be a douchebag, so…maybe they’re separated at birth and he’s the evil twin. Anyway, as it’s shootout time, agreed, we’ll call a truce on Pearl Jam and call it a night.
Okay, we got this far undeserved, might as well get the two points…Let’s go Red Wings!

Nice shot by Dats right through Huet.

Come on Conk we need a block!!
The kid comes through.

That was a nice save from Conks.
Posted by Jennemy of the Skate from putting the b*tches in the box on 12/06/08 at 09:40 PM ET
Hoss, what was that?
Posted by Jennemy of the Skate from putting the b*tches in the box on 12/06/08 at 09:40 PM ET
Well, Conk-blocked for the win. Nearly a carbon-copy of the last game.
Posted by AndrewFromAnnArbor from Fortress Europe on 12/06/08 at 09:41 PM ET
Conks comes through in the SO. An undeserved win, like too many others. We’ll take it nonetheless.

omg, I would like to be happy about this win. I mean, I’ll take it. But geez, I’m dizzy from the rollercoaster ride.

Wow, a very fortunate 2 points.
Now I feel like watching Mystery, Alaska, Bitches, streaming to the xbox via Netflix.

I feel that win was as satisfying as a day’s hunt and missing a big deer. Still a nice day and all but…. not really.

I’ll buy Kraft stock if that’s what it takes to turn this shitship around.

Pav being very charming in the interview.
“Maybe we have day off tomorrow? Ask Coach after”
NO
Posted by Osrt on 12/06/08 at 09:46 PM ET
Ahh, yes, the ship of shit. It’s wonderfully pungent.
Posted by monkey from here to Timbuktu on 12/06/08 at 09:47 PM ET
I agree with Andrew, they “need” another blowout loss cuz there are a number of things wrong with this team right now. I know 18-4-4, but everyone watching knows they ain’t right.
Posted by RWBill from the Land of 12 in 12. on 12/06/08 at 09:47 PM ET
Wingsfanindenver, MO, you guys make some good points, and I agree that Babcock’s the kind of coach that would be able to cut him a switch out of a toothpick, but my fear really is that no matter what anybody says or does, Mike or Nick or anyone, some of the players will have at the back of their mind that they’re mailing it in and still winning…and no matter what they may think consciously, subconsciously there’ll be that little voice saying, “Yeah, but we’re winning, so…so what?”
THAT’S complacency with a bad situation and it’s gearing up for a first-round exit.
And that’s good night from me. Litte Gary’s explaining why Sloppy Seconds gets you six games. Besides that, it’s late here in…wherever I am.
Nytol.

“Maybe we have day off tomorrow? Ask Coach after”
Sure. Day off = Bag skate. Followed by a couple hours of video rehashing how NOT to give up 4 goals a game, every game.
Posted by MOWingsfan19 on 12/06/08 at 09:49 PM ET
mind-boggling: adjective: overwhelming; startling
Well, that describes the Wings third period as well as pathetic describes the first two periods. Why these guys play such inconsistent hockey is beyond me. And from a personal standpoint, it’s a real problem. I’m 62 years old and I cant take this crap game after game. The way they’re playing right now, they’re going to kill me before we get to the playoffs. ![]()
Stuart? Stuart hasn’t done anything special tonight, and almost never does.
Posted by Tyler from Arizona
I would refer you to the last 15 seconds of overtime, sir. At some point, you’re going to have to give up your incessant and ill-informed hate for Stuart and admit that he’s playing nearly as well as St. Nick so far this year. Without him we’d be in a world of hurt at this point.

Tis better to win yet know we still have to tweak, then lose and know we have to tweak.
