20 to go, shift by shift… lets roll all 4 and keep’em in them in their end. Something is missing from this team yet….. like we can’t find high gear for more than a moment or two.
I’d love to see Hoss pot one to get the 3rd settled in nicely.

Roger on the Beer Run. Trouble is the high octane IPAs get to your head quickly. I guess that is not trouble.
Other Topic: Sarah Palin Rally. You know the Secret Service couldn’t stop me getting within 75 yards. The digitial zoom works well.

And Baroque, rest easy, I like what you’ve done with your curtains.

Inconsistency drives any coach nuts, nevermind one coaching the most professional sqaud in sport.

Conk keeps playing like this, we’re all going to be fighting to have his babies.

Oh, they put out the word to wear Red. I thought about wearing my Red Wings sweater, but what kind of loser would I be? When I got there among the 25,000 look who was standing next to me. -

Displaced Red Wings fans are everywhere.

Posted by MOWingsfan19 on 10/13/08 at 08:16 PM ET

Posted by Nate A from Detroit-ish on 10/13/08 at 08:20 PM ET

Sticks in lanes, keep on your check guys… short shift and keep fresh
Posted by MOWingsfan19 on 10/13/08 at 08:24 PM ET
Does Franzen have a force field around him when he’s got the puck? Its like no one wants to get close to him.

Excellent. Win #1 for Conk, and he certainly proved himself. Hard man to beat tonite.
Posted by Nate A from Detroit-ish on 10/13/08 at 08:32 PM ET
We take for granted what a solid job defensively on every shift that third period was, in fact most of the game.
Posted by RWBill from the Land of 12 in 12. on 10/13/08 at 08:34 PM ET
Dang Preds and BlackHawks 2-2 with 18:00 left in the 2d period. That’s a long way to go. Wow we started early. Jeez if I’d driven down to Raleigh I’d have been home by midnight.
Posted by RWBill from the Land of 12 in 12. on 10/13/08 at 08:37 PM ET

Hmm, wonder what the overseas access is for folks like AndrewinAnnArborinStockholminRomeinMoscowinSomeChicksPants.
Not great. Center Ice isn’t carried here, and it’s unavailable online unless I spoof my IP because of broacasting agreements. That being said, because my internet access is variable, I wouldn’t really want to watch it on my machine. So I wake up early in the morning and liveblog with The 19 only if it’s being carried by NASN. With the other sites, P2P, satellite feeds, etc. out there, it’s not really worth dragging myself out of bed for. Half the time it don’t work anyway. So if I’m in the liveblog, it’s probably because it’s on television.
Maltby was more noticeable last game that I’ve seen him in a long time.
Yeah, he’s been back to his agitating best this year. He’s been getting invisible and really just a bit roleplayer-ish since the lockout. Still decent defensively, but bringing almost nothing else to the table. So far, that seems to have changed. He’s hitting, chirping, roughing guys up and knocking them off their game. It’s great to see the old Maltby back.
And yeah, Cleary is a frickin’ beast. He’s also quietly piling up assists and I bet nobody’s noticed. Offensively, defensively—at 2.8 million, he’s still a steal.
But a couple of things still bug me. We should have one of the most potent offenses in the League this year with this lineup of talent. Racking ‘em up. So far, we’ve only seen glimpses, and have won or lost one-goal games. No blowouts. Granted, we’ve been going up against pretty hot goalies, but still…I know, give it time, but it’s frustrating to see games on the edge like this. At least we’re winning without it, but the sooner it gets here, the better. Also…WILLIAM TELL ON THE POINT?!? Ahem. Brad Stuart saw PP time in San Jose and Boston, and he put up. What makes Detroit PP time too good for him? He’s at least as creative as Samuelsson, has a better (and more accurate) shot, and is FAR better manning the point from a defensive standpoint. Okay, so he’s not a right-handed shot like Sammy. So? Didn’t hurt us to have two left-handers when we had Lidstrom and Schneider on the points two years ago…and had the LEAGUE-LEADING POWER PLAY! I really thought this shiz would end when we picked up Stu…apparently not.
Our best players so far have been Mule, of course…and Homer. I was worried he might be in decline, breaking down, and his confidence getting a knock with all the goalie interference calls. Nope. If he isn’t driving hard to the net, making an ornery hit, or picking up sweet feeds for swift goals, he’s making himself an immovable nuisance in his office, sucking in defenders and making goals possible. Too bad they don’t register crease-crasher assists on goals. Even so, at this pace I wouldn’t be surprised to see him top his career-high in goals this year.
BTW, I should have said it in the Ottawa liveblog (checked my mail way too late), but the Chief sends his regards from the Navy Ball in San Fran. He’s keeping an eye on us and the Wings when he can. So if you play nice and send him your greetings and lots of game info, he might bring you back some Boudin sourdough, Anchor Steam beer and hippie love beads.
Bring on Chicago, I say. For all the bluster and the fawning over them, they’re looking pretty toothless. The next one against the ‘Nucks worries me more. Six goals!

Three cheers for reading email on a regular basis!
On the 11th I received the following message (opened a few minutes ago- heap scorn on me if you will) from Chief:
At the Navy ball in frisco. Please pass along to the 19 that I’ll be checking in when I can. Go wings.
So, he’s been partying since Saturday. Or something like that.

I missed that you had already beaten me to it, again. And you said it better. Although it makes me feel better that we were both slacking.
