Watchin’ Clocks Spin The Hours Away…It’s A Thursday Night Live Blog

Joel Quenneville just can’t get enough can he?  After years perfectly playing a specific role with two teams we’ve consistently and enjoyably destroyed…he’s been selected to lead “the next rival.”

Selected by who(m)?

We can assume can’t we?  Sure we can.  You know who it was.  Scotty.  And for that?  You are still our hero.

Exactly.  Back for a reprise?  It’s Joel “Jody Girl” Quenneville, starring as…Wing Bitch.

Hence the post title for a game that doesn’t include Chicago.  Don’t worry.  I’ll be bringing it back.

On to tonite.  An early beginning to the Live Blog, which I know you enjoy.  I get DirectTV tomorrow.  The day that all returns to normal after something like 16 months without hockey on a big fat screen.  But tonite?

I’m still screwed.  Hey, anybody got a link to a feed?

Its a shame, but i think Huds might be bait this year. Somebody with some fight will be staying up with the club and Helm does nothing but create opportunity every shift.

So Chief, does Helm stay up, sit in the press box, and fill in for injuries or does Uncle Mike want him playing more important minutes in GR?

Hossa’s gripping it, but it’s only going to take one goal to get him going.

Helm comes up and Kopecky sits, or Maltby, or maybe even the Oompa Loompa if he doesn’t pick it up.

By the way, did you ever name that boat of yours Chief?  That can’t be good mojo to be out on the open seas without a name.

Not bad, love the way Helm and his line are playing.  agree about how do you send him back. No flippin way you can. we need a really steady third!

Nope Quake. Haven’t named her yet.  No idea what I’m waiting for.  I’m heading out on Saturday. I may decide then.  I’m leaning toward “Quenneville”.

Has anyone made the obligatory “NASCAR on speed” joke yet?  FSN Detroit has way better advertising than anything down here… That and everyone gets the Ford employee discount in the Motor City by default?

Ok, I’m done with that. For now.

happy and Kronwall are killing me in fantasy hockey. They are both minus two thus far! Rafalski and homer are making up for it.  we have to get Hossa a goal even if it is an easy empty netter.  just get the first one out of the way for the guy! but other players can’t pass up great scoring chances to do it. have to have the right balance.

OsGod! Yes take away the pass so te goaltender can have the shooter and Osgod stopped the first one. Our forwards and d are still making to many mistakes. Not a three solid ( periods) game yet.

I don’t know Chief. I thought he was overrated when he was with the Pens. I never saw the fascination with him. But I know a lot of others like him. I just think there are better Swedes we could have gotten for a lot less.

it’s only been 4 games. say that slowly: Four. Games.

players earn their salary in the playoffs. As far as I’m concerned he could not score a single goal all season but one clutch goal in the SCF and he’ll have earned every penny.

Wings fan in Denver… well four games with the Wings but a lot more with the Pens. And tell me how great was he with them? I know it seems I’m rushing to judgement, but I wish we had Brunnstrom right now instead of Hossa. A young player who could grow with us long term versus a high dollar risk who didn’t pay off for the Pens either?

Coaches usually breakup the year into 10-12 games segments and review with the players.  As many have said it will take Hossa some time to adjust. by 10-12 games we will see him playing our style of game.
