And just as I’m about to head to the airport…I see this.
Some tool at Puck Daddy who isn’t Wyshysnski
More of this drivel is available at Abel to Yzerman (“I’m sure there was discussion about the ‘tired’ remarks and the thoughts from esteemed writers like Helene Elliott, gushing and babbling happily about the ‘end of the Wing dynasty’”).
Please, everyone that isn’t a Detroit fan (i.e. tolerable people): Let us join together to issue a formal apology for ever having believed that anyone that is not the Red Wings would win this Stanley Cup, with a corollary that Chris Osgood(notes) is at least twice as good as Ken Dryden and Little Caesars has the best pizza on the planet.
Not sure what “The Two Line Pass” is up to, what he’s talking about, who he is or who he roots for. And I don’t have time to deal with him/her/it right now. Please someone review his literature and let me know if it’s something we should be discussing.

It is my right to point out to you when it goes over the line of civility.
Yes, Sheriff.

And the crack about Lemieux was classless.
Exactly.
We all reacted with disgust when the PenisBlog folks ran with the deplorable jab at Vladdy. Why stoop to their level? We are not petulant little children, here, despite our collective maturity level. ![]()
Go Wings! 1 to 12!

Who just made you Chief? And the crack about Lemieux was classless.
Another Sheriff. Or are you just a Deputy?

I shot the sheriff. But I did not shoot the deputy.

How man times did we see this?
All of them.

I agree. O-Joe, as someone’s who’s mother is a cancer survivor, your comment almost turned me off coming back here. But I love this place and if someone completely crosses the line, I know the rest of the 19 will (and should) call them out on it.

Aren’t there enough things to make cracks about other than cancer?
Come on, people - use some imagination and creativity!

RWer, is that just all straight from your “WTF IS HASEK DOING” folder?
Posted by MarkK from Maryland on 06/08/09 at 03:57 PM ET
New game… It’s called “Hasek: Stretching, Seizing, or Saving? “
RWer will provide the material, channeling Alex Trebeck (sp?).

O-Joe, I’ve been around A2Y since Day 1 (not that it matters in this discussion), and I can tell you that the comment on Lemieux is beyond the pale. Hiding behind the screen of “baiting” doesn’t change that. It’s not about PC, it’s about basic human decency. It’s disgusting.

A folder so big it was recently given its own warehouse.

There is not a hard drive in existence large enough to hold a folder like that.

I find it funneh, as well, that Sheriff Calquake supposedly was going to henceforth be ignoring me. That lasted exactly one retort on my part.

This Country Music capital is also home to the team that Hasek totally sieved-out against in the 2008 post-season.

Hmm what kind of question would you have for the Daily Double, “Seizing, saving, seiving or all of the above?” I think that could be the Final Jeopardy category.

I agree. I think it mirrors the verbal attacks during the presidential campaign. “Is McCain having an affair with a 30 year old lobbyist?” was OK. “Is Obama a secret Muslim?” was OK.
At some point it crossed the line from suspension of disbelief to downright wrong, such as “McCain will die of cancer in office” and “Obama will be shot if he’s elected”. Sure, people had the right to think and say these things. They crossed the line, and many people knew that.
Sure, you have the right to say whatever you want. The responsibility of what you say comes with it. In this case, most of us think you crossed the line, and have said so. Doesn’t mean you can’t say it.

Congratulations on being here for so long. Doesn’t change the fact that you’re an *#$%@&. As the close friend of someone who’s currently going through Hodgkins Disease for the third time in only 27 years of being alive, you disgust me. I hope you never have to go through Chemo or a bone marrow transplant like my friend is currently doing, though it might help you realize that your attempt at humor is the lowest of low-brow. Cal is right, it’ll just be easier to skip over your ramblings.

My bad, I didn’t realize you weren’t being civil.

I will say the best Little Ceasar’s I ever had was at the Joe. Of course, the game I’m thinking of included a beat down of the Dive at a time when they were slightly less pathetic. (11/23/05) That probably made it more delectable.

have no sense of just how really petty and juvenile and un-politically correct it was back then. (And how much we liked it that way)
Most people who complain about having to be “politically correct” are just upset about being called out for acting like an *#$%@&.

Oh, lord. O-Joe, I saw your original cancer comment and was turned off by it, but I didn’t respond because I assumed you were just trying to push buttons. (And I realize that I’ve written several things that others probably should and do find offensive, too.) But I do think that most of us here have a pretty good sense of distinguishing between good-natured fan hyperbole and the truly inappropriate. Whether you intended it or not, what you wrote skirted that line, as do those on other blogs who’ve said tasteless things about Vladdie.
Still, what really irritates the hell out of me is that you’re getting up in arms because a respected member of our community called out you out on it (although he didn’t mention you by name or link to the post, as far as I can tell), and then to call said member a douche. All you had to do was say something level-headed or just ignore the comment, especially since the topic had moved on to other things.
You can call me and others whiny do-gooders who’ve “only been around a short while,” but that’s only serving to push you deeper into the hole you’re digging for yourself today.
Posted by Bella on 06/08/09 at 04:18 PM ET
O-Joe, go back and read your comments. You, for the most part, are the only one calling people names and hurling insults. You remind me of the Pens, highly-skilled but immature. I love the 19 because they intrinsically understand the difference between being juvinile and being cruel. It speaks volumes about your character. I’m not trying to make you go away… I’m just trying to get you to understand that words carry weight. Let’s make peace and I offer my hand to you in sincere friendship.
But I will hold you accountable.

Exactly what I thought of your blog the one and only time I read it (about two years ago).
Pretty vanilla with no further insight than what I could get from reading the Diggers.

Best wishes to your friend, that’s an extremely tough procedure.
Just a little public service announcement, it is free to join the National Bone Marrow registry June 8 - 22, 2009. Just go to marrow.org and they will send you a kit where you swab your cheek and send it back. Takes 10 minutes and you could save someone’s life!
Jen - I hope your Mom is doing well. My Mom is currently battling cancer as well and so is one of my closest friends at work (this for the 4th time).
Wishing someone’s cancer back is just not funny, no matter what.
Signed, a touchy-feely do-gooder.

Hell, they put a trapazoid behind the crease to mess with my goalie.
FWIW, Wysh, I’m pretty sure half the post-lockout rules were designed to stop the New Jersey Devils. The fact that they didn’t is testament either to the League’s ineptness or your own team’s excellence.
1986, and you?
Sorry about the lateness, Chic, but…Christ, you’re old-skool. I may have mentioned several fine establishments that didn’t exist in your time, in that case. Commie High class of ‘96, here.
When in West Michigan, plan a meal around a visit to Fricano’s
Thanks for the tip, but I don’t get to the Lake Michigan shoreline nearly as much as I should—I was last in Ludington four years ago, and the next time I go it’ll probably get to get The Badger over to Manitowoc for a tour of Frank Lloyd Wright houses in Wisconsin & Illinois, as Mrs. Andrew is a big FLW fan.
And O-Joe, Calquake, everyone else…civility please. As the official old-time A2Y reader and Chief’s deputy, don’t make me use my massive Cheddar thrall hold over him to get you two IP banned…
Just…enough. None of you have to have the last word. Drop it and move on, no matter what your opinion, because I have mine and you have yours and maybe the two meet, maybe they don’t, but that’s not what matters here. DO NOT let what the trolls have said get so far under your skin that they turn you against each other. If that happens, it doesn’t matter what team wins in the Finals, because their fans have just beaten ours.
