Western Exposure?

This trip could end 3-1-1.  It could end with the Wings comfortably ahead in the division.  And it could end with one of the top five overall records in the league.

And, no matter what happens tonite in Vancouver, there’s a good chance the stress level will just continue to rise.  Anaheim looks tougher.  San Jose looks faster.  The Wings are giving up 30 shots and nearly 4 goals per game.  Osgood looks mediocre.  Lidstrom: sluggish.  Samuelsson: Normal.

The sky is falling?  Well, of course it is.  Check this out.  A few phrases tossed out there by the Diggers the last three days.

Dave Dye: “leaky defense”, “fools gold”, “issues that can’t be overlooked.”

Khan(!): “alarmingly bad statistics”, “lack of discipline and poor execution”.

Helene St. James says the Sharks taught Detroit a “stark lesson.”

And we, because it’s who we are and what we do, are playing right into their hands.  Lose tonite at GM Place and I’m predicting SRO aboard the Stress Train.

The question, naturally, is whether this is November paranoia or reason for legitimate concern.  Uncle Mike?  Benching Lebda in favor of Meetch?  Panic move or a little bit of a fire starter?  I think it’s too minor to be considered anything than tinkering.

Am I stressing about a defense that is allowing the 25th worst amount of goals per game?  Yeah.  A little.  But, holding Vancouver to one or two tonite will put me back on the righteous path.  Guaranteed.

With that? How ‘bout a Live Blog?

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977.  No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y.  Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation.  There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature.  Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
