I found this comment from Voox last night to be especially appropriate.
Chief, if you think any contest will lead me to contribute anything of value, you don’t know me very well.
Could have been any one of you.
Baroque wasn’t there last night so that narrowed the number of literate, big-picture thinking, adult commenters to…wait one, let me check the figure again…zero.
We even have our own doctor on staff (so to speak) now, and the best he could do was show us all some gross picture of some guy’s thigh then claim he was all pathological and smart. Uh huh.
I’ve narrowed down what I feel the best are from last night. Now you must vote to determine the “winner.” We’ll keep a running tally on the starboard side, then in June after the Wings win their twelfth Cup (bitches), the overall champion will be crowned and fire trucks overflowing with hookers and puppies will visit him/her.
Your choices will be here as they appeared last night, then the poll will have them shortened for your voting purposes.
I understand ducks have some sort of “V” formation.

Shitty period.
On the bright side, Pronger was one of the worst players on the ice out there for those 20 minutes.

getzlaf and perry both remind me of R.O.U.S.’s, aka Rodents Of Unusual Size both with huge ass rat faces! Damn them both. And I almost forgot about Kunitz, that little bitch!

Anybody else sick of the “NHL Center Ice” commercial with the Pens fan in his hand-built jackatoreum?

I’ll need to get hammered ASAP. Yet another great save by Conklin. Oh wait, it’s Osgood in net, nevermind.

2 big asses is alot for a goalie to keep track of.

Now you vote. We’ll keep the poll open until 2230 tonite when the brilliance begins anew.

“hand-built jackatoreum” unbelievable!! hats off to that quote!

Nah, it’s got to be “V” formation all the way. Funny on so many levels. It’s the Kramer of live blogging posts.

What the hell kind of poll are you running here?
I can only vote 1 time??
That’s..that’s..that’s just unacceptable. Who ever heard of an internet poll I couldn’t vote on as many times as my no life having self could mash the mouse button?
Sheesh….NOW what am I gonna do until the game starts?
Posted by dougie on 01/15/09 at 11:53 AM ET
Gotta go with the Quake.Bitches.
Lets Go Red Wings!!!!!

anyone else notice in the post earlier today about vinny at CBC—http://www.cbc.ca/sports/blogs/2009/01/owners_gms_terrified_of_longte.html—this nugget of joy?
“(They gave Hossa a one-year deal equal to Nicklas Lidstrom’s $7.45 million, and a 10-year, $75 million offer to Zetterberg has apparently been rejected.) “
Anyone in Detroit reporting something similar? Grim.

I don’t want to spoil VikingDoc’s Google search for “giant condyloma” (NWS, NMS), but that wasn’t a guy. Let’s say the woman in question will be physically unable to really show anyone her V until the red is surgically unleashed, and leave it at that.

OK, I voted for MO, but jeez, what a pathetic group of quotes.
My guess is the 19 were having an off night, similar to the Oz’s.
We all play better when Baroque hits the ice.

... A frigging classic!
That commercial is at best, disturbing.

Was there any question which I’d vote for? Note to live-bloggers—if you want my vote, reference showing your “V” and I’m probably going to vote for you. Or “unleashing your read” (thanks RWBill).
Todd, I actually thought Ozzie played well. The defense got a bit complacent the last two games—I think with Conks coming on and Ozzie getting a little form back they took things for granted. Oz definitely overplayed the angle on the Montador goal, but that save on Perry more than makes up for it.

Asses it is, but jactatorium was a close second. I hate that commercial.

?
Granted, he did not get much help from the D, but there was no indication of confidence in the first 2 periods. That 2nd goal (Perry) he took himself out on the first shot, stopped 2 rebounds doing the Breast Stroke…where was the D, allowing 3 rebound shots? The third ANA goal looked like an NHL tryout for 15 yr olds. Ken Daniels called it miscommunication, but I call it incompetarnce when he hands ANA the puck 3 times from behind the net.
The Wings got very lucky with that win. That Franzen winning goal was a gimme, but then again the Refs owe us a lot more than one.
I think it is safe to assume Lebda will be sitting tonight unless they are trying to trade him to LA.
I would pair Cheli with Kronner, keeping Meech with Lilja, and sit Stuart for at least 3 games. He has been looking almost as bad as he did against Dallas and Pittsburgh in last years playoffs.

Jacketorium, as we are all about the creation of new words at A2Y. Especially juvilicious ones.

Jackatoreum for the win! Well played, Calquake.
Jeez, I feel like I’m missing out big time on these LBs. I’ve been DVRing the games all season, then watching them after my girlfriend falls asleep on the couch. I’m trying to make sure she doesn’t OD on hockey before the regular season really heats up and the playoffs start.
Jesus, I need a second TV.

If we do this the NHL All Star way I am confident MO will have 683,294 votes by sundown….or when the check clears. Whichever comes first.

Man, shoulda’ gone for the full frontal on that pic…actually, I kinda’ chickened out on account of I thought I might horrify everyone into a coma before the puck dropped.
At least I think I wrangled a spot as Ship’s Doctor. Chief, I actually did some neurotox research for your Navy at the Wright-Pat lab in Dayton years ago. I’d tell you about it, but then you’d have to eat your computer.
So, the responsibilities of being doc…somebody’s gotta’ look after the interns, right. Coeds are they? Just curious…
I’ll try to make sure the popcorn bowls at the bar on the Hasek are well stocked with Valium.

Had to go with the jackatorium. Classic. My second was Little Bitch Kunitz- I’m surprised it hasn’t fared better in the voting, although probably the Princess Bride reference doesn’t help as much as I think it should.

hey chief, thanks for including me on the ballot! it truely is an honor!
Posted by yzer19man from Chicago, IL on 01/15/09 at 11:50 PM ET
Sometimes I don’t know what you are watching Todd… Stuart is a plus player despite playing with Kronwall most games, who’s been prone to turnovers in his own zone. He’s been physically imposing in his own zone, along with Lilja. Stuart was great in the playoffs, as well.
