Crosby looks like he’s about to explode into a crying tantrum fit.

Priceless photo. I wonder if Bylsma had to pull out the pacifiers to shut the petulant whiners up in the locker room after the game.

Trolling on a Wings board when not a Wings fan = true intelligence.

And for the record, the pacifier was still in the mouth. Keep it in your mouth kid, someone might snatch it from your blubbering lips…. ask Patricia Kane about that.

Oh wait…another secret code:  “Gary Bettman has fixed the SCF”

translates to

“I can’t accept reality.”

Hey, did you ever think that Bettman is more concerned about the fact that a 5-0 blowout even happened in the SCF?  If you’re wanting to maintain ratings, you want the games to be good and back-and-forth, not one team simply owning the other.  THAT’s why Bettman looks sad, and not because of some stupid conspiracy theory that arrogant fans had to make up in order to sleep at night.

INDIVIDUAL games are fine as blowouts - it’s the blowout sweep series that are bad for ratings, as long as a series goes back and forth it doesn’t matter what the scores of the games are as much in terms of interest.

Besides, it isn’t as though Detroit scored five goals in each period.  The Penguins still had about half the game left to come back from a 3-0 deficit, if they hadn’t gotten pissy about it and concentrated on playing better defensively, helping out their goaltender, and getting even one goal by the end of the second period.  That would have been 3-1 after 40 minutes, and they could have very reasonably come back from that to send it to overtime - IF they had acted like professionals instead of throwing a tantrum that things weren’t going their way.

For Joe’s benefit, could someone go back and find all that discussion we had a few days ago where we used virutual air quotes around the word conspiracy because we don’t really think that, as the league isn’t smart enough or well organized enough to pull that off, but there are definitely more advantageous outcomes from a marketing standpoint, and although the league would not actually fix games, they won’t be too upset about errors or inconsistencies that work out to the benefit of those outcomes?

I can’t remember the title of the post where all that discussion happened right now.

ask the NHL’s players.

https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/story/?id=268421&hubname=nhl-capitals

In a recent poll, more than 50 percent of the players in the league pointed to Crosby as the game’s biggest whiner.

the next player on the list got 8%.

oh, and this is a good one, too:

http://community.post-gazette.com/blogs/bobsmizik/archive/2009/05/21/nhl-players-call-crosby-8th-best.aspx

In an astonishing survey of 324 NHL players—roughly half the league —conducted by Sports Illustrated, Crosby finished tied for eighth with a meager 1.9 percent of the vote.

Washington’s Alex Ovechkin was the overwhelming winner among the players, receiving 51 percent of the vote. Detroit defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom was second with 11 percent.

The next four were the Penguins Evgeni Malkin and Detroit’s Pavel Datsyuk seven percent; Calgary’s Jarome Iginla and Detroit’s Henrik Zetterberg five percent.

Z and Dats voted higher than Crosby by the players.  even Wings fans know Malkin is the real superstar in Pittsburgh and the one opposing players and fans should worry about.  I laugh at Crosby when he falls apart.  I feel bad for Malkin when he does it because he’s better than that.

So if calling Crosby a crybaby indicates that you know nothing about hockey I guess that means the only real hockey fans are Penguins fans. Nice logic there.

Crosby is a crying 5 year old. Get over it. He has no compsure. Deal with it. He’s not Captain material. That’s truth. He should change his name to Rosby he doesn’t deserve the C that much.

Okay Joe, glad you showed up here for an education.  The fact that Sid is a whiner comes from THE PLAYERS ON THE ICE who have to put up with his relentless amateurism.  Also, the players don’t think he’s that good.  YOU’RE WELCOME.  Hope you understand now.

324 NHL players rate Crosby the 8th best player, behind, among others, Ovechkin, Lidstrom, Zetterberg, Datsyuk and Malkin.

http://community.post-gazette.com/blogs/bobsmizik/archive/2009/05/21/nhl-players-call-crosby-8th-best.aspx

And of course players all realize Crosby IS the biggest whiner by a factor of 6:1 over Chris Pronger.  Truly overwhelming, but consistent.

Yes, wouldn’t it be better if another major American corporation moved its operations outside of our borders so you could feel better about a hockey game?

The world could use significantly fewer people like you.

@Joe, are you asking for logic and information about only the “conspiracy” belief or behind that and Crosby’s tag as a whiner?

I won’t talk the “conspiracy” issue because I’m tired of hearing about it.  If you’re looking for examples of Crosby’s not-so-stellar leadership record, simply look at it from the perspective of somebody who isn’t a Penguins fan.  It’s not Crosby’s fault that the NHL made him the face of the league.  The expectations and pressure are a lot for anybody his age to handle.  But, there are plenty of examples where he has not handled it well.  Yes, there are also lots of times where you can show he has.  I think Crosby will be a good leader in the future.  He’s not there yet.

There is no proof of a conspiracy, because there isn’t one.  However, for the belief that Sidney Crosby is a whiner, we have the opinion of the NHL players themselves:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3atOIUzMb0

An ESPN survey revealed that 52% of NHL players consider Sidney Crosby the biggest whiner.

Haha, I guess the players’ poll is pretty good source of information - although it is all based on opinion.  Therefore it is the opinion of people like Jeremy Roenick…so…take that as you will..

J.J. from Kansas, that is a very good point.  Sid is far from perfect, but he has a bunch of potential and can probably outwork 95% of the NHL.  The cool thing is that he’s young and will grow out of whatever habits he might have now.  Plus, he’s surrounded by a lot of talent in Pittsburgh, so there’s really more than one leader on that team.  I still don’t think he’s a whiner, but I can see a little better why you guys might think so, though I don’t quite understand it.

Either way, I’m outta here.  “Trolling” takes a lot out of you..plus I’m worried I might catch failing-industry from hanging out in a Detroit blog too long…..just kidding.

Trolls, especially the (ones with no) Pen(i)s are notorious for their selective reading skills. It all comes across as gibberish to them unless you write it in retarded 3rd grader text speak.

Crosby sucks you mofos! Yzerman had more class at 18 than this loser has at 21!  As for your other “superstar”, good job. Your team is down 3 goals and you have a chance to at least score one or two goals for a comeback and instead you take a stupid penalty. I though this is the guy who had “heart” and “a will to win”.

I won’t talk the “conspiracy” issue because I’m tired of hearing about it.

So am I - but here’s my stab at the Cliff’s Notes version especially for trolls:

There is not a conspiracy in the sense of a plan, involving organization, forethought, and intelligence, to help make the Pittsburgh Penguins the Stanley Cup champions of the NHL as soon as possible, to the detriment of any team they encounter, but particularly the Red Wings.  There is also not a conspiracy in the sense of an explicit anti-Detroit Red Wings agenda in the league offices.

... however ...

There is a set of outcomes of any playoff season that would be more advantageous to the financial future of the league as a whole, because whoever is in charge of the efforts have all the marketing acumen of a flock of retarded gnats, and a commercial that features the player annointed “the face of the NHL” since before the poor kid was even drafted holding the Stanley Cup would be too simple a concept for even them to screw up, since they have insufficient imagination or creativity (or are just too lazy) to come up with a way of marketing more than one player at a time, NBA style, despite the fact that players such as Datsyuk and Zetterberg and Lidstrom, while not always snappy quote machines, are very popular in their local markets.  For that reason, when the normal arbitrary nature of penalties and suspensions happens to cause problems for Detroit, the league doesn’t especially worry about it because it is to their benefit (as they see it).

They are probably also ticked that their CBA is being circumvented in its intention to foster a churn of talent so all teams have a shot at star players and no one gets to hoard them for long periods of time and make sure they are competitive over a longer period of time than other teams, because everyone is supposed to have their “turn” at being in the playoffs now, since that would be best for the plotlines within the league.  But that is a lot more speculative and fuzzy than the marketing angle.
