Wings/Hawks Live Blog

Hawks feed tonite on Center Ice.  A Hawk home game, no less.  Even for us Wing fans, that’s good to see.  Game intro focused completely on the four game streak.  Hawks have cumulatively outscored Detroit 6-1 in the third periods through the first four games.

Robert Lang’s hair appears to be impeccably coifed.

Game previews can be found at On The Wings and Third Man In.

National Anthems in Chicago are the best of any arena in the continental 48…if this rivalry ever gets renewed it would be something very good for Gary’s NHL.

Ellis/Downey/Kopecky out again—10 mins I’m telling you.

Of course I was wrong about Bulin being in net to start the 2nd

At least it looks like the Hawks are interested in playing hockey this period.

Might be 10 minutes if Detroit scores another couple of goals this period, though.

Chicago has settled down and is being much more competitive.

What was a little guy like Rafalski doing in front of the net on the power-play?

He’ll get squished.

Two things:

Third period’s going to be a barnburner.

And I want to believe Roger Clemens. I do. But it’s hard to when he won’t maintain eye contact with Mike Wallace for more than five seconds.

Goal with 8 seconds left in the period, dang it, I was gonna try to snooze during the third period.

But if you’ll compare pictures of his eyeballs when he started his career, to pictures of his eyeballs a few seasons ago….

It’s just the vitamins!  B-12 will do that, honest!  And lidocaine!  And a really solid workout!

I’m betting the last 5 minutes will be the sort that gets you so wound up, you can’t sleep for 2 hours after the game.

Dougie, I’m getting a bad feeling about this one.  I’m just sayin’.

A two goal lead going into the third has been our undoing a few times this year. And to think, I was talking about doing my nails, ahem.

This one will be fine.  We are a different team now since the beginning of the season.

I had a bad feeling before the game started.

Chicago just gets up for Detroit as they do for no other team.

Chicago has no idea that they’re supposed to deflate after being down 3-0.

Where is the script, I’m sure that the hawks should have had a 5 on 3 by now.

Yeah, what Tuba Guy and Gabriel said! Chief, you need to go back in and edit out some of our last posts. If word gets out that we weren’t totally smaug, arrogant, and condescending at all times, well, that might not be a good thing.

Chicago play by play guy:

“Samuelsson’s a strong man. He wears number 37 which is why they call him the mule.”

Overall, they’ve been good…except for that.

Why? Because the Wings actually won this game?

My 8 year old son asked, “Why do the blackhawks have a picture of Chris Chelios on thier jerseys?”

That too.  smile

But mostly because there were a couple of missed empty nets (Chelios I can understand, but Datsyuk, too?) and then everyone on both teams was skating around like the proverbial chickens with their heads cut off.

But with a lot less blood, fortunately.  That would have been messy.
