Man…we gave it back to Barry last night and next thing you know he’s dumped in the round file. I guess Tampa wanted more of a character guy, someone who could really set an ethical example, a toe-the-line law abider.

I remind you of this comment from last night’s Live Blog.
Melrose needs to remember he’s not a “commentator” anymore. TB’s gm (Feaster?) must be happy like a puppy to hear his mulleted coach refer to Holland (or anyone else) as the “best gm in the league.”
Two hours, kinda, until they drop the puck in that most traditional of all hockey markets…Miami. The great state of Florida, home to such rockers as Tom Petty, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Molly Hatchet. Oh, the choices. You pick the band, I’ll choose the lyric.

If I recall correctly, TB currently doesn’t have a GM. Their ownership assumed GM duties.
As for the theme, Skynyrd would fit very nicely.

A2Y staffers from Ferris State are closely monitoring the voting and skyping me the results. It’s very high tech. I’m startled at the lack of support for Skynyrd. However, I’m narrowing down a list of very classic Petty tunes.

I’m startled at the lack of support for Skynyrd.
Nothing against Skynard, Chief…but just a suggestion, perhaps using lyrics from a band who lost lost so many to a plane crash isn’t the best choice for our traveling team?

The Mullet has parted. You and I were both all over Melrose about praising the franchise, and on top of that ONE DAY after my first public wish to have family neighbour Stamkos get away from falling dandruff from the Mullett.
That same family “connection” has agreed to try and persuade young Stamkos to come and join the Wings later this year when he goes down to visit. I’m already filling him in on the details of the Cup winning ways, the System, Tick-Tock and Uncle Mike, as well as how sick a line featuring Stamkos-Helm-Leino would be.
Sure with RFA my plan won’t be possible for a few years, I figure why wait to start planting seeds?
And I think a letter from the A2Y 19 outlining why he should wear the Winged Wheel should be sent as well. Suggestions for the content is welcome.

Wonder if that back door clause to return to ESPN is there that I mentioned last night??? Not that ESPN does anything worth a $hit for puck, I’d rather listen to Bucci bash the Wings for the 30 seconds a week they give the NHL over the Mullet anyway. The playoffs with Don Cherry and the Mullet will make me hate both forever, not that I already didn’t.[
I voted for Skynyrd FYI. I’ve always had a liking for Mr Breeze & Simple Man (the real version on Cold Play or whoever bastardized it on the cover version).
The Petty landslide surprises me actually.

just a note to whoever recorded the TB feed off directv by accident because they don’t label which one the home feed is: I’m fairly certain they always put the home team feeds second (lower on the on-screen guide). that theory went 3-3 today, so i think it’s pretty accurate. Just thought that might help anyone else who inadvertantly recorded an inferior broadcast due to Directv’s inability to correctly label their channels.
