Worldwide Wings

Great interview with one of the 19 over at Snipe, Dangle today.  Guilherme, or Herm as he’s known on the live blogs, has become a huge contributor to the comment section here the last several months.  What some of us may forget is that the big Brazilian has his own Wings blog, Red Wings Brasil.

I never met another fan in person. We gather at social networks like Orkut or Yahoo Groups. There are 2 communities on Orkut about the Wings (one with 470 members and another with 250), and the Yahoo group about the NHL have 245 members. Some members of those groups founded, in 2002, the online magazine SlotBR, where they write objetive articles about everything in the NHL. There are also blogs on the Rangers, Habs, Hurricanes, Leafs, Denver, Kings, Bruins and the Ducks.

Herm’s literally never met another Wing fan in his life. English is his second language. The games come on at some sick hour of the day/night.  Yet there he is, every live blog, trading juveniliciousness with the rest of us.  Awesome.

On the other side of the coin?

Pinky.

It’s done.  He’s done, as we knew he would be.  Next.  He’ll always have a place in our hearts, 16 December was epic and he’ll be stored away for future references.  Now we’re going to separate ourselves from him and others by moving on.

Holy hell, though, you guys were awesome yestesrday.

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977.  No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y.  Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation.  There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature.  Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. Your suggestions and critiques are welcome: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
