You Wanted Kindl? You Got Some

As discussed around our happy little community of blogs most of the afternoon, Jakub Kindl has in fact been called up from Grand Rapids and will join the team for tomorrow’s all important morning skate. Khan(!), as usual because he’s the Deep Digger captain, is all over this thing...
Kindl, 22, has one goal, a team-leading 11 assists and a minus-2 rating in 19 games with the Griffins. This is the third season in the AHL for the Red Wings’ 2005 first-round draft pick.
“He’s played pretty well, got off to a but of a slow start the first 3-4 games,’’ Red Wings general manager Ken Holland said. “Since he turned pro he’s continued to get stronger, learned to be better in his own zone.
“His strengths are his ability to move the puck. He’s got good size (6-3, 210). He can be an NHL player.’‘
That’s nice. Thank you Ansar, and thank you Tick Tock. But you’d like more wouldn’t you?
I knew it.
Megan, the more refined of the Salers and our resident expert on all things Griffin, was quoted by her husband at OTW.
I’m excited to see Kindl on the Wings roster. I’m not excited to see him off the Griffs roster. He’s been really solid this year so far. Defensibly responsible as well as showing good signs of offense. That’s what I like from my defense. He’s finally started to show why he is so highly thought of by the so-called experts.
Risky. Every time I quote my wife I get blasted. Using her own words against her and all that. Saler’s a rebel.
Next…Red Wings Central.
When Kindl is confident and on his game, he’s a mobile puck-mover who can run a power play and take care of his own end. When he’s struggling, he’s prone to turnovers and defensive miscues. The Red Wings believe he plays better with and against better players, when he has less time and space with the puck and is forced to rely on instinct than try and do too much on his own.
My analysis?
Exactly. Have a nice evening.

About Abel to Yzerman
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
