Columbus Crunch

I have to say I am proud of the effort last night from the Blue Jackets.  Steve Mason stood on his head.  Unfortunately Rick Nash was injured, something that I didn’t get an opportunity to see except on replays.

Nash is out for the weekend...at least.  So what do you do when your captain/best player goes down?  You call up Nikita Filatov of course.  Filatov is coming off a great World Juniors, and will definitely add something to our roster, I mean what can it hurt?

As the hits keep coming, somehow, since I wrote that post, I have calmed down, and I have faith in my team.  Like Hitch said last night, all we have to do is tread water.  But, I think a trade needs to happen in order for us to do that.  We are still recovering from the Doug MacLean era and will be for quite some time.  It’s been stated that we don’t have anything to offer aside from draft picks, but is that really the case?  We have a team full of checkers, couldn’t we spare one or two of them?  I think we could, but I hate to think of losing one of these guys.

Some good news, Mason is in net on Friday.  The last time we played the Capitals with Mason in net, it was a 3-0 victory, and it felt so good.  The Caps are hard to play against at home, and it will be a good test for this squad, which I affectionately dubbed the Columbus Crunch, considering the majority of our lineup has spent a bit of time in Syracuse.

More good news, Huselius might be in this weekend.  He is being tested tomorrow, and we need all of the help we can get.  Filatov can’t do it by himself.

ALSO, a big CONGRATS to Captain Rick Nash, for being named to the NHL All-Star team.  I personally think that the NHL should have chosen Steve Mason, who is leading the league in all categories except wins, he was injured for the first month or so of the season, and did see some games in Syracuse.  Columbus gets the shaft...again.  But, this is to be expected, Leclaire was left off last year, even though he was second in votes.  Again, we have to prove our worth, and we are working on that.
