Filatov Debuts

Nikita Filatov made his long awaited debut. It was a 5-2 loss to the Buffalo Sabres, but he’s still happy, that he played at least.

“I was so excited because I was waiting for this moment for a long time because of my injury. I’m happy because it was my first game, but to lose is not so good emotions.”

It’s okay Nikita, it was only a preseason game, you will have many more games to play, and win in.

Here’s Hitch on Filatov.

“He was good early – he’s got great skill and speed. He’s having to absorb a lot of information. For a kid that is 18 years old and has never played a game in North America, to come into this, it’s a good start for him.”

The Jackets got on the board first a goal from Jiri Novotny. The Sabres were able to score five goals on Fredrik Norrena, until Rick Nash finally got one in on Patrick Lalime.

Let’s talk about some of the good stuff in the game.

The intensity! It seemed like every stoppage of play someone was roughing someone up (keep in mind I was listening not there). The game had a total of 92 penalty minutes, 51 of which went to the Jackets, and 19 belonged to Tollefsen.

Dorsett from what I heard had a great game, picking up a fighting major in the first period, he took on Andrew Peters, who is a pretty tough customer. Picard also had another fight, which I thought was crazy. He seems to be tougher this season than seasons before, of course he is fighting for a temporary spot.

All in all, it was a preseason loss. I’m ready for the regular season to begin.

I WILL be at the game tomorrow, I’m hoping to do a liveblog from the game, but we will see how the internet and my computer cooperate.
