Filatov Steals the Show

Rookie Nikita Filatov was all over the ice on Sunday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs.  He scored the first goal of the game, and then ended up with the game winner in the shootout.

The Blue Jackets fell behind 4-2 in the third, and with less than three minutes left Jake Voracek and Jason Chimera scored fifteen seconds apart to tie the game up.  Fredrik Norrena was in net for for the first two periods, then Dan LaCosta was called in for the third.  He stopped a Jason Blake breakaway and was solid in the shootout stopping all the shots he faced.

But now, the preseason is over, and we’re getting ready to start getting into games that actually mean something.

Filatov doesn’t have permission to go to his Junior team.  I wasn’t aware of this until yesterday.  So, he may be going to Syracuse after all.

Picard made his case by scoring a goal.  He laughed about it, because it was a really ugly goal, but he seems to be the chosen one to replace Raffi Torres.

Like Paul showed earlier, Tollefsen knocked Jason Blake into next week.  I still think that Tollefsen and Rome are going to be the chosen defensemen, especially with Kris Russell playing 25 minutes last night.

Jason Chimera had quite the night, he had 5 shots on goal, a goal, and took quite the hit from the ref, oh yeah, and he may have broken his nose.

The Jackets organization have a lot of tough decisions to make, and we will know by Wednesday what our roster will look like.
