The Blue Jackets won the game against the Predators. A game that saw the Blue Jackets score four goals. The Predators were up 2-1, and the Jackets scored three goals in a row, from Voracek, Murray, and Huselius. The Preds tried to make a come back with a goal from Peters.
It’s nice to say we won a game against Nashville. Again, we don’t do it often so when we do, even if it is just a preseason game, it’s a BIG deal. I found this quote from Trotz interesting, it’s his response to Hitch putting in Nasty.
“You can call it gamesmanship or whatever. There are things we want to do in Nashville, so we’ll go about our business. I’m sure Hitch is doing the same thing. He’s trying to change certain things in Columbus, attitudes or whatever, so his message to his team will be a lot different than my message to my team. I’m trying to sort out some of our positions of competition. That’s priority number one in these first three games.
“So we’ll treat it as a regular preseason game, nothing special. If they want to make it a big deal, they have a different message than us. We’re just going to go up there and do our thing.”
I think that Hitch goes into every game, wanting to win, and if that means putting in our big guns for a preseason game, then that’s what we’ll do. Mirasty deserved the chance to play, he earned that opportunity. He got into the game immediately with a fight against Gratton. I wasn’t able to see it, from what I read, Mirasty ran his show.
Here’s Hitch on the game tonight:
“The first period, we started off looking like the Harlem Globetrotters. We were moving the puck well. I thought we had flashes where we were really crisp… and then I thought we did the things we needed to do in the third.”
I’m a bit shocked to see Hitch compare us to the Harlem Globetrotters, but what can you do?
I’m a bit disappointed that Mirasty didn’t fight Tootoo, but there’s always tomorrow night. Our roster for tomorrow night, according to Puck-Rakers is as follows:
Chimera-Malhotra-Pineault
MacDonald-Umberger-Mayorov
York-Novotny-Boll
Mirasty/Picard-MacKenzie-Dorsett
Matvichuk-Rome
Tollefsen-Clitsome
Holden-Methot
Norrena
LaCosta
We’re going with a younger lineup and letting them have the opportunity to prove themselves. Should be a good game. Go Jackets!

Whoops, was thinking into the future, Columbus was 0-7-1 last year, my apologies.
