Did I die?
No, I did not.
Fortunately for me, and unfortunately for you, this is my last week of classes. Meaning, I’m getting ready for finals next week, meaning my posting will be lacking. Because studying, has kept me busier than I ever could have imagined, but, anyway, since you probably don’t care about all of that, let’s talk about the Blue Jackets.
First of all, the Jackets don’t play until Thursday when they host the Nashville Predators.
Steve Mason will be in net for that game, so Pascal Leclaire will be the backup. His performance against the Ducks was simply mediocre at best. A 0-3 road trip is pretty pathetic, especially after the way we played against the NHL best San Jose Sharks. We were pathetic in the loss to the Kings and I felt like I wasted my time watching.
Clay Wilson will likely be playing forward while he is up with the Blue Jackets. He is great on the power play, and I love watching him on it. Then, there are times when he’s trying to defend, that he makes me a nervous wreck. He is a definite asset for us right now though.
To be honest, I think something drastic needs to happen with this team. A trade? A surprise healthy scratch? Anything really, but they need a wake up call and they need it fast. We are ONE point ahead of Dallas, sitting fourteenth in the Western Conference. That is completely unacceptable. The team has to play better.
Maybe there is a leadership issue? Maybe Nash, Peca, Modin, Commodore, someone needs to stand up in the room and call people out. Maybe they need to push each other more. We have the players, sure they may not be the best in the world, but they are good players who are capable of playing well. Players who are capable of winning. Why not do it? Show all the people who say we’re a joke that we are legitimate team. Show Hitchcock, Howson and the fans that you can do it. The fans do our part supporting you night in and night out, but now it’s time to give back to us.
This IS the year. But, the boys need to get on board, please.
