Time for the rematch. The game last night is forgotten, for the most part. We are 1-0 with the Predators, and that is all that matters. Just ask Mike Commodore.
“To be honest I really don’t care. As far as I’m concerned I’m 1-0 as a Blue Jacket against Nashville. I know a lot of past times were tough and the obviously dominated the series and that counts for something for sure, good for them, but as far as I’m concerned this is my first year here and whatever happened last year and years prior.”
It’s good to have that type of attitude in the room. We all know what our record is against the Predators, it’s not a secret. At home the Preds have an 18-3-2 record against us, since we came into the league. It’s going to be a tough fight tonight, but we know we have the skill to do it.
Fredrik Norrena will be in net tonight, and my guess is that Ellis is going to be in net for the Preds. The advantage is on us. Ellis played most of the game last night, Freddy played 5:14 last night so he got a chance to get warmed up, but not too tired. Dan LaCosta will be backing Freddy up tonight.
According to the paper the Jackets may be playing both Marc Methot and Ole-Kristian Tollefsen.
More thoughts on the game last night.
I still can’t get over Filatov. He was entertaining, he scored, and the fans, LOVED him. He earned a standing ovation when he scored, and all around me people started saying, that he just earned his spot the rest of the season. Now, whether that’s true or not remains to be seen. Brassard is probably my favorite player to watch. I couldn’t take my eyes off of him during warmups or the game. He has such skill and if he keeps developing he IS going to be a dominate center in the league.
I think that we’re starting to develop some chemistry. It’s not perfect by any means, but it is getting there. Derek Dorsett wasn’t scared of Tootoo at all. I expect tonight they will actually go at it, but you never know. How shocked was I to see Picard drop the gloves? This is the same kid who a season (or two I can’t remember) ago took his first BIG hockey hit in the NHL, and no lie I saw him cry. If you don’t believe me, ask my mom, she was watching it with me. I am glad he’s up with the big club, and seems to be improving.
Now, onto the Peca suspension. I think five games is fine. We don’t have access to the video tape that the league somehow obtained, to see a good view of what happened. From the video we do have, he touched a ref. Should he have done that? No. And, I would go on about Chris Pronger and suspensions, but there is no point, and it will just get me angry. I know people are saying things like it should be more, and some are saying it should be less. Peca up until this point had a clean record. He will be eligible for a return against the New York Rangers on October 24th.
Speaking of the 24th…who is excited to see Zherdev and Fritsche come back?! I am very excited to see them back, and hope the fans give them a warm welcome.
