I think saying “Undefeated at Home” is a little much at this point. However, we are 2-0 at home, very exciting! Derek Dorsett scored the game winning goal, his first in the NHL and against one of the best goaltenders in the league. Here’s Dorsett on his first goal:
“It was a huge relief, probably one of the biggest celebrations I’ve done after a goal. It’s just really exciting and I’m glad that I got it.”
We’re glad you got it too Derek. The Blue Jackets played two really great periods, and had a bit of a breakdown in the third, and Pascal Leclaire was outstanding.
The “goat” line (Jason Chimera, Derrick Brassard, Jakub Voracek) was outstanding. Jason Chimera had a goal, Brassard had an assist, and Jake Voracek had two assists on the night. Speaking of our rookies, they are tied for second in the rookie scoring race, behind the Blackhawks Kris Versteeg.
Pascal Leclaire was the reason that we won the game, making save after save in the dying minutes of the third period. It’s great to have Pazzy playing well again. The communication seemed to be there for the most part, and he looked like he did at the beginning of the season last year, which is what we needed.
Most interesting moment of the night, was when Nikita Filatov took a hit from Kevin Bieksa. Alexandre Picard came in to protect our little rookie, and dropped the gloves. He did okay at the beginning, but in the end, he turtled under the pressure, and fell down to the ice. It gave me quite the laugh, but you know, I have a strange sense of humor. However, it is nice to see the boys standing up for one another.
Again, sorry for the delay in posting this. School has got me boggled, but things should lighten up after today.

At least Dorsett didn’t turtle!
Our defense needs serious work, but they ARE getting better, which is refreshing. It just takes time.

It looked like Filatov did a 360 in the air before landing… I thought for sure Bieksa would get a penalty for it, but didnt.
Anyways, good game, took the Canucks long enough to actually start playing like they wanted a win

Both of those fights last night were brutal… Hurry Back, Boll!
That being said, it’s good to see the Jackets come out and win one, and how AWESOME to see Pazzy makin’ like a trapeze artist out there! Still need to shore up that defense, but if they can start locking down like they were last season, then this team is going… places.
