Hey all! I hope you all had a happy holidays!! I am finally back into the real world which means I have a computer that is able to connect to the internet, and can actually read what has been going on with the Blue Jackets.
There are rumors going on that the Jackets are preparing to make trade, no clue with who, or for who, and who we are shopping. Anyone want Backman?
Nothing can be done until after 11:59 pm tonight. So, if something happens I will update tomorrow.
The Jackets hosted the Philadelphia Flyers tonight. The Jackets had never won a game against the Flyers…until tonight.
Steve Mason pitched a shutout. Jan Hejda scored, and I received my Jackets victory for my niece. It was fabulous.
Hitchcock promised us a better effort, and that is exactly what we received.
Rusty Klesla is back, and is actually himself. He threw some big hits, and he also had a fight against Joffrey Lupul which shocked me, but, it was great.
Malhotra also scored, he is great on the faceoffs, and was all over the ice tonight.
Andrew Murray, one of my favorite players, also scored on the power play. It was nice to see something finally happen with the power play.
Now, let’s talk Steve Mason.
This kid is amazing. I seriously can’t get enough of him. He is always giving it his all and never gives up. He may not have faced a lot of shots tonight, but he is the future for this hockey club. I honestly don’t see us as having a 1A 1B situation. This is a 1 and 2 situation. Mason is the goaltender who will take us to the playoffs. He is the most important part of our hockey club right now. If he is in the game, then we have a chance to win, he will make sure of that.
He is leading the league in GAA, and is tied for second in shutouts, and is in the top 5 in save percentage.
He IS the real deal.
The next six games are on the road, it’s going to be a tough test for up, but we are up for it. Next game Monday.
I am going to have a liveblog on Monday, so be sure to check in and keep me awake.
Go Jackets.

Yay! I’m glad the team won for your niece’s first game. Going to the first game with family or friends is always special, but to see a good game and a win for your home team makes it that much more fun.
Antropov for sure might be available, because he’s a decent player who helps the team win, and Toronto can’t have that kind of thing if they are going to have a chance to draft Tavares.
He also seems to go through periods of being the designated whipping boy for apparently no reason, which I just don’t get.

Great game and Steve Mason was fabulous once again. I love a player you can count on. I am looking forward to seeing who the Jackets trade for. That trade needs to happen soon….if we have a chance at all to make the playoffs!

Mason didn’t have to make too many great saves (he let Peca handle that) but another SO still looks good to the Calder Trophy judges.
The Jackets need to make a move though, without Brassard I think the playoffs are still a longshot. I’ve been vocal about bringing in Nikolai Antropov from Toronto, but I pray they don’t start giving real assets away for a guy like Doug Weight or Mike Comrie!
I’m not really sure who else is available, but somehow I doubt they will make a move for Jason Spezza. I just seems like too big of a risk for the dollars (though Nash or Huselius would love it!). But the best move for the Jackets system would be to bring in a two-way player like Antropov, whose good for 70PTS probably (and thats with nobodies as his linemates), can play any position on forward, and is a penalty killer.
Another option is Nathan Horton, but I’m not sure he’s available either. But he’s the same type of player, probably with a bigger upside.
