Jackets assign four to Syracuse

The Blue Jackets announced today that they have assigned four players to Syracuse.  Tom Sestito, Adam Pineault, Clay Wilson, and Grant Clitsome.

That narrows the “replacement” for Torres down to Filatov, Picard, and Dorsett.  Filatov is expected to play Monday in Toronto, he was taken out of the lineup last night because the Wild dressed some of their big guys, and according to Puck-Rakers the Jackets “didn’t want him to get his head knocked off.”  That makes sense.

We still haven’t heard really who they are going to have replace Torres, and I still think Filatov will stay up for a few games at least just so we can get a better look at the kid.

Also, if you were wondering who is going to be that sixth defensemen, here’s what the blue line will look like on Monday:

Russell, Commodore, Tyutin, Backman, and Klesla.  Now who is the other one is anyone’s guess.  It could be Rome, OKT, Methot, or Matvichuk.  Rome is my pick for the sixth, simply because he is solid.  UPDATE!  Okay, so Tyutin isn’t in the lineup for Monday Sunday against the Leafs.  Here’s what it’s going to look like.

Norrena in net, and LaCosta backing him up.

The defensive pairings according to Puck-Rakers are:

D1: Ole-Kristian Tollefsen—Rostislav Klesla
D2: Marc Methot—Mike Commodore
D3: Kris Russell—Christian Backman

Methot and Tollefsen didn’t play last night, so they’re getting their opportunity to prove they belong.

And of course, here are the lines:

F1: Fredrik Modin—Manny Malhotra—Andrew Murray
F2: Jason Chimera—Jiri Novotny—Jake Voracek
F3: Nikita Filatov—Michael Peca—Jared Boll
F4: Alexandre Picard—Craig MacDonald—Derek Dorsett

I am hoping that the game will be available to watch online, but I’m not sure just yet.
