It was so weird being out of the Blue Jackets loop for two days, and covering two teams, that are our biggest rivals. It made me realize a few things. First, I love the Columbus Blue Jackets, don’t get me wrong, I had an amazing two days, probably the best two days I have ever had, but watching them made me realize the Blue Jackets are my team. Second, I love seeing Steve Mason in net, and missing the Ducks game, was killer for me. I had some great friends who kept me updated on what was going on, but still I missed seeing my rookie goaltender post his third shutout. And, third, Chicago taxi drivers are on a mission to give you a heart attack.
So tonight the Jackets take on the Colorado Avalanche. We won the first game of the series, and this will be the last game in Colorado. We will face the Avs at home on January 13th. Anyway, with Mason in net we are going to have a chance to win. This kid is intense, he’s so good. He set a new franchise record for shutouts, and well, he’s just an absolute beauty.
All of our guys are really “dug in” as Puck-Rakers says. Craig MacDonald scored his first NHL goal against Anaheim goal as a Blue Jacket, and Michael Peca added the second goal for the Jackets. We’re getting the secondary scoring, but Nash has to get going to win against the Avs. The Pepsi Center is a hard building for us to play in, but this is a new season, a new beginning, and we have won the first game of the season.
It’s going to be a good game, for sure. More later, when I get updates from practice.

Bethany:
That was MacDonald’s firs goal as a Jacket, but he has scored in the past. We are his 7th NHL team.

Well you know my feelings about Foote- I can’t wait until he plays here.

Foote was obnoxious last night. I will definitely be in attendance when he comes to Columbus…and anxiously await to send unhappy thoughts his way.
