Jackets in LA

The Blue Jackets flew to LA today, so there wasn’t a practice, but there are still things to talk about.
More than likely we will be starting Calder candidate, Steve Mason.
Fredrik Modin is injured. Apparently in the locker room he is dragging his leg behind him, but on the ice, he is playing extremely well. It does bother me to think about it. If he is injured, badly, then shouldn’t he be resting more than just missing practices? I know he is a vet and knows when he can and can’t play, but imagine what he would be like if he was 100%. What would be more helpful to us? Oh well, I am just going to trust Modin’s decision and go with it.
Manny Malhotra is really stepping it up recently. He was taping a show for the NHL Network, A Day in the Life, yesterday. It has been great to see him stepping it up, and with Brassard out we need all the help we can get.
Andrew Murray is growing into one of my favorite players. I have never seen a night where he doesn’t give it all he has, Dorsett before his injury was like that, but since coming back, and not being able to fight, he hasn’t been the same. But, I am sure he will be back to himself soon.
As for trades, I still don’t know who we’d give up. I have been running through it in my head, and I can’t think of anything really doable, that wouldn’t give up the farm. I would not want to trade places with Howson, at all.
This road trip is a huge test for us, and I expect something to go down during it. I have faith in the team we have but we still are lacking those ingredients to make us a contender.
The Jackets are going to throw everything they have at the Kings, and will be agressive, and won’t let them forget the way they made us look at home just a few nights ago. It will be an intense game, so don’t forget about the liveblog tomorrow night…the game is only on radio, but thankfully I have Center Ice, so I will still get to watch it.
And on a totally random note, I am counting down the days until the Avs come to Columbus. January 13th. I will be heading to that game with some of my good friends, let me know if you are heading to the game, we can get dinner and drinks before hand!

The Jackets may throw everything they got at the Kings, but sometimes a team just has the number of certain teams….they may want to save their energy for the rest of their west swing.
