Jackets Lose in Final Minutes…Again

For the second game in a row the Jackets proved that they can’t finish a game.  Tonight, the issue was, among other things the goaltending.  Leclaire let in some bad goals, he was not at his best, he didn’t make the saves he should have.  With that being said, the Jackets have got to work on their aim.  I don’t know how many chances Torres, Huselius, and Nash had tonight but they couldn’t put the puck in the back of the net.

There was absolutely no reason we should have lost this game, at the very least it should have gone to OT.  Osgood let in a goal from nearly center ice.  He was clearly not at his best tonight.

Thoughts on some of the players…

Jake Voracek scored the opening goal of the game, thanks to his hair cut.  He seemed happy about it, it was his first goal in a while.  It’s good to get the young kid going again.

Huselius was all over the ice again.  Why can’t he capitalize on his chances?  I don’t know how many posts were hit tonight, but I do know that if those would have gone in we would have at least been up 5-3.

Fedor Tyutin was a monster tonight, scoring from nearly center ice, with a little help from Hossa.  He had two goals on the night.

Russell is back.  I imagine tomorrow he will be even better.  He seriously looked great tonight.  It’s so great to see him back.

I don’t know what the deal is, but Backman needs to go.  I want him off the power play, he’s not helping.  He was on the power play for 3:46, Nash, Tyutin, Huselius, and Brassard were the only ones with more.  At this point I say we just need to sit Backman, he needs to get his head back in the game.  I don’t care how much money he is making this season, stick him up there and let Ole play.

Leclaire has got to be better if he wants to keep his number one job.  I will say it again, I trust Mason more than I do Pazzy and Norrena.  There was some talk that he may have reinjured his ankle during the game, I haven’t heard or read anything about that, yet, but we’ll see.  I hate to say it, but the only game that Pazzy was really putting out the effort, for the entire 60 minutes, was the Buffalo game.  That is a sad, sad thought.

I don’t want to throw the goaltender under the bus because I want Leclaire to do well, I want Leclaire to play like he did last season.  But it just isn’t happening.

Mason will get the nod tomorrow, thankfully.

We have to learn how to win, and it has to be now.

The post season dreams are slowly falling away for this girl.  And, someone needs to do something about our power play.  It is just plain embarrassing.
