Malhotra on IR & Predictions

Center Manny Malhotra has been put on injured reserve. He will not be playing tomorrow night in Dallas, Derek Dorsett is heading to Dallas with the team. Not exactly the way we want to start the season, but what can you do?
The season opens tonight for the NHL in North America, the Jackets however don’t play until tomorrow. There are so many questions that come with this season. Not just with the Blue Jackets, but with all the teams. The Dispatch has an excellent preview up for the season not just for the Jackets, but for the entire league.
The Jackets are such a crazy team, it’s hard to preview them. You never know what to expect, and usually the thing you think is least likely to happen, does. Here are some of my predictions for the season for the Jackets.
We make the playoffs in the 7th or 8th spot.
Rick Nash scores 42 goals.
Jakub Voracek is a candidate for the Calder Trophy.
Pascal Leclaire has 6 shutouts.
Nikita Filatov comes up around Christmas, and sticks in the NHL.
Norrena is gone at the trade deadline, and Steve Mason assumes the backup role.
Kris Russell has a great season and scores 15 goals.
We beat Nashville more than once.
Jared Boll leads the league in penalty minutes.
Derick Brassard takes the number one center job, and runs with it, sometime before Christmas.
Foote gets to hear it from the fans when he comes to town, and anytime he is on the ice, he will be Pronger/Bertuzzi status.
Zherdev scores a hat trick against us.
Any other ones that I am missing?

There is NO WAY Zherdev is allowed to score a hat trick!! It would simply not be tolerated,if you know what I mean. Other than that drop the puck.
Lets Go Jackets.

Good read, nice to have updates on the Blue Jackets as I have Filatov in my keeper league, but I just wanted to point out that it’s the Calder Trophy, not the Calder Cup, that Voracek may be in the running for (the Calder Cup is awarded to the team that wins the AHL championship).
Cheers.
