Mason with the Shutout!

WOO! I love when we get shutout wins. My question is who chose the stars of the game? I know Mason only saw 15 shots, but it was his first career shutout, and he played great tonight. He should have at least received one of the stars. Here’s how they went:
1. Rick Nash
2. Ondrej Pavelec
3. Jason Chimera
I haven’t figured out what exactly Chimera did to earn a star of the game, but you know whatever. Here is what I would have picked:
1. Steve Mason
2. Ondrej Pavelec
3. Rick Nash
Pavelec had a GREAT game stopping 29 out of 30 shots. The Jackets had a lot of chances but were only able to capitalize on one, and then RJ Umberger got the empty net off a pass from Nash.
Nash had a great game with a goal and an assist, and he played hard tonight. It was nice to see a normal looking Nash, the last few games he wasn’t giving it his all, even if he was scoring goals. Jared Boll came back and added to the toughness, getting in a fight with Garnet Exelby, he looked like he may be back to his normal self.
Jake Voracek was only on the ice for 8:58. I don’t like him playing that low, and I really would like to have the goat line back. But, tonight he was basically invisible. Maybe there is an injury or something that we don’t know about.
Derek Dorsett had 12:01 of ice time and he looked good. I never thought we should have sent him down in the first place, so, hopefully he will stay up with the big club for the rest of the season. He gives it all night in and night out.
Steve Mason is going to get the start on Wednesday, against the Phoenix Coyotes, according to Hitchcock in the post game and rightfully so. It should be a good game, and I am still bitter over the Jokinen stick incident, but you know, I’m sure the team is over it. When Mason is in net we know we’re getting solid goaltending, and right now, I have more faith in Mason than I do Leclaire and Norrena. If that means anything.
More on the game tomorrow.

While I’m excited for Mason (not to mention, excited BY mason), there’s still something to be said about keeping Pazzy in the mix. After all, before giving up the 7 goals earlier in the week, he did look really good in that 6-1 win over Buffalo. I’m still comfy with Leclaire in net, is what I’m trying to say.
As for Freddie, sorry. I know he’s angry about doing a Stephon Marbury impression, but it is what it is. It’s not like they can waive him, and it’s not like they can trade him.
