Nothing like a Saturday Night Hockey Game!

First of all, before I even TALK about the game, I need to talk about all the wonderful people I was able to meet tonight! We had great seats, and were sitting next to a couple from LA, and before the puck dropped we already struck up a friendship. It was their first hockey game, and I’m telling you, they couldn’t have hand chosen a better one. After the first period I was able to run down and meet Elisa, who I have been e-mailing forever, and meet her and her husband Andy.
I have sat by some rotten people at games, really negative ones, and to sit next to positive happy people, was a welcome change.
It was great to be that close to the action. Jason Chimera fought right in front of us.
This game was pretty even with the way we were playing and towards the end things got chippy, really chippy. Chimera and Nystrom went at it, followed by Commodore and Primeau, (they only received double minors for roughing), but it was quite interesting.
I would go through all the goals, and everything, but, man, all I want to talk about is Mason.
Steve Mason is amazing. I don’t know what else to say, he is 3-0, the guys are playing in front of him, he makes all the saves you expect him to. The Flames only scored on the power play. Mason was the number one star of the game, and he deserved it. Making 22 saves on the night. I can honestly say I didn’t see Mason make one mistake.
So where do we go from here Jackets fans? What do we do with our extra goalie, and I’m not talking about Mason. It would literally shock me if we sent Mason down to Syracuse, I mean after the way he has played, there’s no reason for him to be down there. Leclaire may be ready to go on Wednesday, and we will have to make a decision.
Norrena hasnt played well. Leclaire has had a tough start to the season. Mason is playing well, and winning.
Is it as simple as that?
We have a three game winning streak, the chemistry is there, the boys (aside from Nash) are scoring, and we have a hot goaltender. Things are nice and happy right now. More on the game tomorrow.
