Bethany's Hockey Rants

Number 7

Wow, the Blue Jackets are currently sitting at fifth in the western conference.  That’s crazy!!!  I unfortunately was unable to see the game, except the third period.  I did see the highlight with the goal from Jake Voracek, and I of course saw the result of the game.  1-0 Jackets.  Steve Mason recorded his seventh shutout of the season.  That’s something to be proud of.  I fully expect Mason to get the start tomorrow, but you never know with Hitchcock.  Also, I love this quote from Mason:

“Not really. The most important thing for myself is getting into a playoff position. We did that tonight, and we just want to keep moving forward with it. Shutouts are nice to get on a personal note, but they don’t really mean anything in the end.”

He’s right.  How many shutouts did Pazzy have last season?  What did that do for him?  Nothing.

Mason had some big saves in the third, especially when the Jackets took two stupid penalties in a row.  Apparently I also missed this.

Not much of a fight…but Chris Neil got a game misconduct, Ruutu got a fighting major and a misconduct, and Umberger got a fighting major also. What a weird night.  I am hoping to go to the game tomorrow, but it’s not looking too good.  If I cant make it plan on checking in here for a live blog.

Is this team for real!?  I think they are.  Imagine how good we’d be if we’d get our PP going.
