Pazzy to IR, Russell down, and Boll back!

Goodness, the Jackets have been busy.  Dan LaCosta has been called up, and that means Pazzy is out.  He is getting an MRI to see what is going on with the ankle, he keeps hurting it over and over again.  Leclaire has been moved to the injured reserve, so he is out for at least the next three games.  Steve Mason better prepare himself, because he’s going to be up here soon if this keeps happening.  Kris Russell has been sent to Syracuse also.  He wasn’t playing up here, and it’s better he play then sit in the press box.  Here is Howson on the decision to move him down.

“It’s never great for a young player not to play,” Howson said. “We told him it’s a temporary stay. Go have fun playing hockey.”

He will be playing games on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday and will then hopefully be recalled to the Jackets.  Again though, you never know.

The Jackets play the Anaheim Ducks who are coming off of sweeping the eastern Canadian teams.  Pretty impressive, not going to lie.  The Jackets should be up and ready to play for this game.  Apparently, the entire world, is against them, except for their fan base, that stands by and waits and wonders could this be our year?  Here’s Hitch talking about the Blue Jackets.

“Nobody’s going to give us anything, we know that,” coach Ken Hitchcock said. “That’s the attitude we have to have now. We have to go out and earn our points.”

To earn our points though, our forwards have to start producing.  Rick Nash needs to score on the breakaways, Kristian Huselius needs to score on some of his five shots on goal, RJ Umberger needs to get going.  He has 2 assists and is a minus-5 in eight games, his time on ice in the last game was 16:35.  Jared Boll is returning to the game tonight, but I don’t expect a lot out of him, fight wise, because he is coming off of injury.

I don’t want to start screaming the sky is falling, but if our top line isn’t going to produce, then we need to put the goat line out there, they are playing like our top line, anyway.  They are reliable, and you can count on them every shift.  We can’t make excuses anymore.  It’s eight games into the season (our ninth game is tonight), it’s time to play like you care, put more pucks into the back of the net, regardless of what you have to do.  Throw EVERYTHING at the net.

We can’t expect to win games where we only score one goal.  Our defense is getting better every game, but I still think we need to juggle the pairings a bit, but I trust in what Hitchcock is doing.  Puck drops at 7:00 P.M. EST and is on FSN Ohio, thankfully.  The last game I thought I was going to die listening to the Wild announcers.  Hopefully the goal being called off is a good thing and they can use that as motivation and start winning games that they need to be winning anyway.
