Sometimes when you least expect it…

Something great happens.  Not that anything great has happened with the Blue Jackets today, well yet.  Something is going to happen good with us.  You can’t be on a downward spiral forever, eventually you will come out, and everything will be okay.  It’s something I tell myself everyday, not because of my team, but because life in general is hard.

This is going to get a little personal, but what the heck, this is my blog and I can write what I want, and eventually I will get to the point.

I play volleyball in a recreational league every Wednesday, keep in mind that before this league the last time I played volleyball was in gym class in the ninth grade.  While most teams have six players, my team has five players.  In volleyball you have three sets, the first set we didn’t play well, people weren’t calling their ball, they weren’t falling on the ground to get the ball, one of the girls just stood there and looked.  Needless to say we lost that set.

Between the first and second set we came together as a team, and discussed our issues.  We called out the girl who just stood there, and hoped for the best.  The second set, she was better.  We all began calling the ball, and finally after a few struggles, we won the set.  The third set nothing was said in between, we went in and just played, the same issues that we had the first set reappeared.  No balls were called, the girl who just stood and looked on in the first set, stood there again.  We didn’t take a timeout, we just played, pathetically, and lost the set, and in turn lost the game.

Now, why am I talking about my rec league volleyball team when I should be going on about the Blue Jackets?  Well, I realized last night, how important leadership is, how important communication is, how important it is to try your hardest.  It’s stuff I knew, but it made me feel like I was in the same boat as the Jackets.  Someone needs to step up and say, okay, you have to play better.  Stop waiting around for the puck to come to you, go get the puck.  My best friend plays on the volleyball team with me and she said, “You know, I’m okay with losing as long as we try and that last set, we didn’t try.”

I think the same goes for the Blue Jackets.  It’s one thing if your team tries for an entire game, but to have them play one or two periods of hockey is unacceptable.

Tonight the Blue Jackets face a tough opponent in the Avalanche.  It’s a tough building to play in, and one that we haven’t had much success in.  But, we are playing our old Captain Foote.  Maybe, just maybe that’s reason enough for the Blue Jackets to WIN a hockey game, and do all things they know they should be doing.

Ain’t that the truth. Nobody likes to lose but at least you can go down swinging.

Should be a good one tonight though I don’t think the players/team hold any sort of grudge against Foote wink

i hope all the players hold a grude against that scumbag, and pay the new guys a big bonus for every cheap shot and chris simon like slash to his dome. Adam Foote is a scumbag and the avalanche suck ass.

It’s a bummer that all good things come to an end, but all bad things come to an end eventually, too.  smile

The Philadelphia Phillies are the only professional team to lose over 10,000 games - not even the Cubbies, for all their losing, are that bad.

2008 World Series Champions.
