The Glass is Half Full

Okay, so the loss last night was bad and our team desperately needs to change things up a bit to start playing well.  However, it is not the end of the world, and just because we have lost 4 out of 7 games doesn’t mean we’re going to miss the playoffs.  We’re playing our eighth game tonight, it is EARLY in the season.  Way too early to be bringing up things like your prediction for the playoffs.  I am surprised at some of the messages I have been receiving thinking that the sky is falling, you’d think that we were in the same position as the Flyers who just won their first game last night.  I know our team hasn’t played a complete hockey game yet, but it will happen.

Anyway, now that’s out of the way.  We’re playing the Minnesota Wild tonight and Pascal Leclaire is in net again tonight.  The defensive pairings stay the same, and here are the forward lines.

Rick Nash - Manny Malhotra - Kristian Huselius
Jason Chimera - Derick Brassard - Jake Voracek
R.J. Umberger - Michael Peca - Andrew Murray
Alexandre Picard - Jiri Novotny - Derek Dorsett

Yup, Umberger is now on the wing.  That’s fine, he needs to get his confidence back up, and I seriously doubt that it is a permanent move.  Filatov is a healthy scratch tonight, and will likely be sent back to Syracuse sooner rather than later.  The “goat” line is still together, and has been our most productive line. Let’s just hope that the Blue Jackets can play three solid periods of hockey, and that we don’t give up too many chances.

The Wild are without the services of Marian Gaborik.  Owen Nolan is back in the lineup tonight after missing three games with a leg injury.  The puck drops at 8:00 P.M. EST it is not televised on FSN Ohio, but those of us lucky enough to waste all of our money have Center Ice will be able to watch Minnesota’s feed.

Enjoy the fifteen games today, and remember…it is STILL early in the season.  No Stanley Cups are ever won in October!

Sadly, I only get to watch the first period tonight.

But I will be expecting a goal from Sheppard again. Ok, that’s unlikely, but that’s my plan.

Remember not to send me gloating text messages tonight if your team gets up a couple of goals wink

I agree, I think Modin & Torres could have made a real difference in the game last night.  For all of the NYR’s skill we (IMO) needed Torres to help establish a physical presence on the forecheck and allow us to play our game.  Even though there was a fair amount of flow, too many times we got stood up in the neutral zone and when we did gain the zone we didn’t sustain an attack.  Freddy helps that aspect alot.

Talk about an embarrassment of riches though, where do you think Gomez would line up right about now for C-Bus… 1st line right?  As it is he had a good game on the 3rd line for the Rangers.

Ah well, they say most GM’s wait until the 20 game mark before they start casting lines out for trades so I guess we’ll see if any of that ‘chemistry’ develops in the next couple of weeks.

BTW, you’ll get no love from me on Zherdev though, I was glad to see him go I did not however boo.  I don’t hold anything against the guy he just wasn’t ever going to fit here.  Oh, did anyone besides me see the hit’s he handed out at the end of the 2nd?  He got a pretty good run on Commodore… pretty funny.
