Bethany's Hockey Rants

There it goes.

The four game winless streak is finished.  I’m not too thrilled with the game last night.  There was not a bit of rythym to it, and well, if there was, I didn’t see it.

There weren’t very many positives from the game.  Four power play goals and one short-handed goal were allowed last night.  On a good note, Steve Mason was not at fault for most of the goals, blame the defense who offered him no help.

The Jackets are now home and getting some rest for the game on Tuesday against the Detroit Red Wings.  The road trip is going well so far, we are 3-1.  That’s not too bad, we lost the 8th spot in the Western Conference, but that’s alright.

There are two games left, Detroit and Washington.  I expect Mason to start in Washington, and Pazzy to go in Detroit, but Mason very well may start both games.  He is the hot hand at the moment, but Pazzy needs to play, and get the rust out.

Mayorov was able to make his NHL debut but only received 3:38 of ice time, and to be honest I didn’t notice him on the ice.

David Backes was an absolute jerk last night, and forced Tyutin to stand up for Huselius.  Backes cross checked Huselius from behind.  Backes received 20 minutes worth of penalties, and I personally think it’s suspension worthy, I guess time will tell.

It was so strange to see Tyutin drop the gloves…but at the same time it was refreshing.

Other matters of business.  Stefan Legein is expected to report to Columbus tomorrow, we’ll see how it goes, but he will likely be in Syracuse by the 6th.  Also with Russia losing to Canada last night, Filatov will likely be returning to Syracuse…if we keep getting injuries, we may see him up sooner rather than later.
