Next entry: For tonight, the bragging rights are mine.

Previous entry: Jackets Cut More

Time for the Preds…already??

The Blue Jackets are playing the Nashville Predators tonight at home.  It’s the preseason home opener and the Blue Jackets are bringing out the big players for this game.  The Predators rivalry is an interesting one to say the least.  We only beat the Predators ONCE last season, and the season before that, we never beat them.  No one is okay with this, and that’s why, this is our lineup for tonight:

The top line will be Rick Nash, Derick Brassard, and Kristian Huselius.  Interesting to see Hitchcock going with Brassard down the middle, but they practiced it and it seemed to be working in practice.  Second line Fredrik Modin, R.J. Umberger, and Jake Voracek.  It’ll be nice to see how Voracek and Umberger compliment each other in a game atmosphere.  Jason Chimera, Manny Malhotra, and Andrew Murray will make up the third line, no surprises there.  Tom Sestito, Derek MacKenzie, and Jon Mirasty are the fourth line guys.  Mirasty is in for Adam Pineault, because we didn’t really have any fighters in the lineup.  If you don’t know anything about Mirasty, here is what you need to know.  He played in the LNAH that is notorious for fighting.  He doesn’t shy away from ANYONE.  Nashville is putting in Tootoo and Josh Gratton, but I will get to that later. Fedor Tyutin, Rostislav Klesla, Jan Hejda, Mike Commodore, Christian Backman, and Kris Russell will make up our defense.  Pascal Leclaire in net with LaCosta warming up the bench.

Seems like a solid lineup.  Now onto the Nashville Predators lineup:

Their forwards are Martin Erat, David Legwand, Scott Nichol, Jordin Tootoo, Josh Gratton, Ryan Jones, Joel Ward, Rich Peverley, Triston Grant, Antti Pihlstrom, Michael Ryan, and Geoff Peters.  The Preds are without Radulov who left to play in the KHL.  I’m not surprised to see Tootoo in the lineup, he will likely go head to head with Jon “Nasty” Mirasty who is making his NHL debut tonight.  Let’s hope it looks something like this.  Their defensemen are Ville Koistinen, Greg Zanon, Shea Weber, Kevin Klein, Ryan Suter, and Jonathan Blum.  I’m happy to see Blum in.  I have always liked the kid and enjoy watching him play.  Dan Ellis will be in net for the Preds while Drew McIntyre is sitting on the bench.

Most people seem to think that these preseason games don’t mean a whole lot.  Well, I agree with that for most games, but when it’s the Preds, EVERY SINGLE GAME matters.  Not just because I’m tired of losing to them, but it’d be nice to rub it in to my cousin Joe, who is a HUGE Preds fan.  Go Jackets.

Jon Mirasty is IN tonight.  Should see some fireworks with Triston Grant and Josh Gratton in the Preds lineup.  Wouldn’t be surprised if Sesito and Tootoo hook up as well.

Sig, I think Mirasty is all about Tootoo tonight.
Baroque, I agree, and I haven’t had many bragging rights with him.  smile

Bethany… Mirasty is/was about (in order):

1) Josh Gratton
2) Triston Grant
3) Jordin Tootoo

Mirasty would kill Tootoo… Gratton and Grant are both perfect as far as weight class is concerned.  Obviously, since the game is already going on, we’ve already heard that Mirasty and Gratton fought on their first shifts.  I think Grant will be next.  Sounds like Mirasty took over the fight at the end versus Gratton.

Well, now that it’s over, I guess I was wrong.  I suppose Tootoo prefers going after the bigger non-tough guys.
