The men of Puck-Rakers have been keeping us up to date on the Clint Malarchuk situation. Here is the latest.
Blue Jackets goaltending coach Clint Malarchuk is recovering from a self-inflicted gun shot wound to the chin that he suffered Tuesday afternoon at his Nevada ranch.
His wife, Joan, told police the shooting was accidental.
The former NHL goaltender, perhaps best known for having his jugular vein severed during a 1989 game in Buffalo, was found by police bleeding profusely from the mouth and chin after he shot himself with a 22-caliber rifle, according to a Douglas County Sheriff’s report.
All the best to Clint and his family at this time, and I hope he makes a quick recovery.

Can I just be super rude here? I know I can… how in the hell do you ‘accidentally’ shoot yourself in the chin? Everyone’s thinking it, I’ll say it—sounds like dude tried to take himself out.
Because I mean, a rifle… it’s not like a pistol where you can just hold it close to you and accidentally hit the trigger, it’s going to take a little effort to get it pointed at yourself and hit the trigger.
Just sayin’…

w2j2 It was ruled accidental under suspicious circumstances.
Tracy, i have no idea...I guess when he put it between his legs maybe his leg set it off or something...I don’t know.

I hope this really was accidental.
I trust that his caretakers will give him a thorough psychiatric evaluation.
It may be more than his chin that needs healing.
