Updates from the Jackets

hate the deadline, can’t stand it. Last year was tough on the team and fans, as our ‘captain’ forced his way out. This season we are going to be buyers, which means we’ll be getting rid of some of the players that aren’t “necessary” for the playoff push. I have been trying to come up with a few guys, but nothing really sticks out aside from Backman. I highly doubt that we will have any takers for him.
I trust Scott Howson and his decisions, so I know that if we get a good deal for a quality center, he will take it, but won’t sell the farm. And, hopefully won’t give up too many draft picks doing it.
The Jackets need a center, and we need guys who can help improve our powerplay.
Here are some more notes before the game tomorrow night.
*Dubie gets the start in Pittsburgh. Portzline said he thinks that LaCosta will serve as the backup, but that remains to be seen. Obviously Mason isn’t practicing.
*Nikita Filatov is off IR, and has been assigned to Syracuse.
*Malhotra and Novotny are practicing on the top line. In the game, I think I remember Williams being with Nash, and they looked really good together.
*Methot isn’t making the trip to Pittsburgh, it seems like the flu is going through the team. Huselius, Filatov, and now Methot have been out.
We are in the market for a goaltender apparently. I’m wishing Norrena was back with us. But, what can you do.
Uhm, and here’s a video of RJ Umberger supporting the Steelers, and uhm…Carrying the Flag?

I suppose if you have to throw a game (Hello, Dubie…), you might as well do it against players like Crosby and Malkin that have the capacity to wreck Mase’s self-confidence. Let Dubie get shelled and come back to reality against the Sharks.
Methinks the CBJ will be making a play for Antropov if they haven’t already.
