6 Canucks Signings Announced

via the Canucks

Vancouver Canucks General Manager Mike Gillis today announced that the club has signed right wing Ryan Shannon, centre Rick Rypien, right wing Mike Brown, defenceman Nathan McIver, defenceman Zach FitzGerald and defenceman James Sharrow. In keeping with club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

And with that, all of Vancouver’s RFAs are now under contract. A happy little family just waiting for a new, Swedish papa.

Rypien has the chance to be the most dynamic of the bunch, but McIver is the key signing of all those guys. He’s the heart and soul - blood and guts type of player every team needs. Start reserving that sweater “A” for him, because he’s going to earn it this season.

I really liked Shannon last year, actually. I wasn’t too pleased when he (and Mason Raymond, I think) were sent down to the Moose at times I thought they deserved to stay up.

But I don’t recall many people agreeing with me, unfortunately… wink

Come on.  Sign Sundin already so he can move from COTU east to COTU west and lead them to a non-playoff position.
