All those annoying Alex Burrows trade rumors put to rest, it seems. ESPN gets the scoop:
Forward Alexandre Burrows has agreed to an $8-million, four-year contract extension with the Vancouver Canucks, a source told ESPN.com Tuesday.
Burrows had been involved in trade rumors prior to Tuesday’s deal. He has been skating on the Canucks’ top line with Henrik and Daniel Sedin and seems to have clicked with the Swedish twins.
Update 7pm PT: Confirmation of the report from the Canucks will be posted as soon as it’s available (update 7:15: here’s the Canucks press release). Meanwhile, Burrows’ was optimistic guy this afternoon (and, presumably, not exclusively the result of his 400% raise):
“I think we have a lot of good pieces in place. The core is good, we have some depth at a few positions. We like how we play. Once we get into the playoffs you never know what is going to happen.”
