Charting the Canucks Mid-Season

January:  2 wins and 10 losses.  But finally it’s February. A fresh start for the Canucks, their fans, and our cardiac specialists.

Looking back, it’s quite spectacular, this implosion we’ve witnessed over the last month. So in order to get our heads around the recent past, I thought I’d draw up a graphic chart—an easy reference guide, if you will—of how events have unfolded through the mid-season, December and January.

Check out the chart below—it can be enlarged for easy reading. And I hope you appreciate all the pretty colors. Bad things always seem brighter when accented in pastels.

signs of life are starting to emerge from the Canucks, yes they lost to the Wild but they didn’t quit and staged 2 comebacks against a tough defensive team. they were the better team for the last 2 periods and if not for a goal against the play (Sedin hits the post and it bounces out only to have the Wild take it the other way where a shot off the post bounces in ... a game of inches to be sure), i believe they would have won in regulation. Backstrom stood on his head and a marginal call in ot gave the Wild the win. i think Vancouver is starting to come on and the wins will come. the Canucks have the better schedule for remaining games amongst the western conference teams, less road games, less back to back games and the other teams will be facing tougher opponents. i expect the Canucks to make the playoffs and when they get there this experience will make them a tougher more resilient opponent.
