From Canucks.com:
Vancouver Canucks General Manager Mike Gillis announced today that the club has signed defenceman Alex Edler to a four-year contract extension through the 2012-13 NHL season. Edler enters his third season as a Vancouver Canuck.
“Alex is a gifted puck-moving defenceman who sees the ice extremely well for such a young player,” said Mike Gillis. “He has made great strides in his career and we look forward to further growth and development in his game.”
Edler has been a pleasant surprise from the first moment he put on a Canucks jersey and I’m glad to see him on the team long term. But I’d be curious to know the dollars of this deal, and even TSN hasn’t sniffed that out yet.
In other Canucks news, it’s possible the U.S. government has concerns about that Lukas Krajicek trade—he continues to languish in Vancouver waiting for someone to stamp his paperwork.
Update 10:35pm PT: According to Ben Kuzma at The Province, the Edler deal is for $13 million, with an annual cap hit of $3.25 million.

Because of course, Czech hockey players are the kind of reprehensible characters that aren’t wanted ...
(rolls eyes all the way into next week)
And the thing is, that many airplanes don’t clean their systems well enough to ensure safe water free of coliform bacteria from the tap. The numbers are a bit scary, actually - it would be safer to take on water if passengers were allowed to, instead of forcing them to buy bottled to avoid possibly contaminated water.
