Forsberg, Vancouver and a Sick Bag

From the Courier-Post Online late yesterday:

Forsberg has told teammates he would like to play for a Stanley Cup contender and many believe his first choice would be Vancouver, where he could be reunited with childhood friend and Swedish Olympic teammate Markus Naslund.
Other teams believed to be seriously interested in Forsberg are Detroit, Montreal, Anaheim, San Jose and the Rangers.
With the Feb. 27 trade deadline just 15 days away, many of those teams would like to know where the Flyers stand with Forsberg.

I fully expect 95% of the Canucks fans reading this are feeling faint at the possibility of Foppa coming to Vancouver in the next two weeks, but don’t count me among them.

Well, actually I’m torn on the issue.  He IS, of course, a really freakin’ good hockey player—but on the other side of the equation: Exhibit ‘A’.

So. Much. History.  Not to mention all my unfinished anti-Forsberg photoshop ideas just screaming to be released onto the world…

Oh, please! You’d be the first one to line up and purchase a pink FORSBERG jersey to show off to your Yaletown friends.

I know Andy Strickland had a post about it as well. Alot of people are suggesting that Nonis needs to make a move quick since Calgary is revamping at an alarming rate. But I don’t think that’s the case in Nonis’ mind.
Forsberg is rumored to be coming to Vancouver at least once a year to play with his Swedish comrade, but I just don’t think it’s going to happen. Actually, I’d bet a large sum on that. Nonis is not about to give up the amount of youth that Philly will ask for in return. Nonis will not sacrifice the team’s future for a wheelchair rider!

Jes— If you ever spot me wearing a Forsberg jersey, consider it a complete and certain sign of the apocolypse

J.J.— Ummmm… read on.

Zanstorm— Wow. Someone made a bet and it WASN’T ME!  What do you have to do if you’re wrong? Gotta give us something.

Now, that being said, I don’t think Nonis’ interest in Forsberg is just about Calgary’s new redesign. You never need much reason to add more scoring, especially a competitive player like Forsberg with Stanley Cup rings, and a salary you can dump at the end of the season.

However, for the sake of all that is good and decent in the world, I think delving into Avalanche castoffs is torturous hell.  It would almost choke me to cheer “Go Foppa!”  *shudder*

How about picking up something like a Guerin and Brewer instead of a “robofoot Foppa”.

We don’t need a defenceman tho! I still think a Gary Roberts or Martin Gelinas would suffice. The Canucks are a pretty good team as it is, we don’t need to piss away alot of youth at this point.
What do I bet on Forsberg not coming here? I will burn my Mats Sundin jersey if he comes to Vancouver!!! I will take pictures of it and post it as proof!

Wow, Zanstorm! I want to see that sweater-burning ceremony badly.  If only I didn’t have to actually see Forsberg come to town to get that chance… doesn’t seem fair.

heres a scenario that although very unlikely, not completley beyound the realm of posibility.

nonis trades for Sundin (overpays)

A conference call from Naslund, nonis and Sundin to floppa.

Floppa signs with the canucks for 2 years at 4 mill with incentives for games played, goals etc.
