HNIC Theme Contest Opens Today

The CBC has their dedicated website up for Canada’s Hockey Anthem Challenge and entries will be accepted starting today until the end of August. The prize is $100,000.
One important restriction: the contest is open to Canadian residents only. So if you’re a brilliant American or Swedish or Slovakian or… (etc) musical composer, maybe send the theme to me. I’ll claim the prize and we’ll split the cash. (Deal?? Personally, I think this is a brilliant plan...)
Some notes:
- All entries will be posted online where hockey fans can listen, rate, debate and pick the winner. So if you’re at all sensitive to criticism, don’t be submitting a tune.
- There will be at least 5 semifinalists presented to the country and judged by a celebrity panel on a CBC network television special on Oct. 4. The judges will be announced shortly.
- Formats accepted are (1) audio (mp3, wav, realaudio - 150 mb max size); (2) video (mpeg, wmv, avi, mov - 150 mb max file size)
The only information not available yet is where exactly to send submissions, so watch their site for more updates.

Too bad about the citizen thing; I would have sent them a track

I smell a Gordon Lightfoot comeback! Just rework the lyrics Gordon.

I suspect you’ll be able to listen—and mock—along with us hosers, Baroque.
I want to enter this thing, but I have no talent. So I’m thinking perhaps I could make something up that’s so bad, it’s good?

It would be pretty funny if someone hacked into the site and embedded the original Hockey Theme as an entry so it couldn’t be removed.
(Please note that this is only a joke and I do not in any way, shape, or form advocate hacking of personal and/or business computers.
Unless, of course, it would amuse me.)

Oh, come on - How small is your brain if you can’t handle that concept!

Why not. That idea has to account for about 40% of the music floating around today, so why shouldn’t it work for a theme song?
(Just submit it under another name - like S. Avery. Then any mocking will be deflected to another (more worthy) target.)

But will non-Canadians be able to listen to the entries?
That is a more important question, as I’m beginning to suspect that the primary reason humans evolved language was to more skillfully mock the hunting and gatherine skills of their fellow tribe members.
