Has Demitra Signed with the Canucks?

via TSN:
...Pavol Demitra confirmed that the Canucks are his preferred destination and expects to sign with the team.
“I think there is a good chance,” Demitra said."[Current Canucks GM Mike Gillis] used to be my agent for a long time. We are very good friends. I am very interested in playing for [the Canucks].”
Or perhaps he already is…
To take it even further, Kukla has a translation from the website of a Slovak tv station: “Pavol Demitra will play for Vancouver next 3 yrs. His contract is 4mil per season.”
And Canucks fans everywhere breath a sigh of relief... ("Someone who can score?!? What a cool idea!")
$4 million a season seems a bit much, but hell, it’s not like the team doesn’t have the money to spare.

I’m glad about Demitra. Although 4 mil is a little steep. Here’s hoping he can stay healthy for an entire season. It’s been a while since that has happened.

I am more concerned about the term, would have liked a 2-year deal better, but what the heck, $4m is ok if you see that Ryder signed the same deal.

I like Demitra, but that seems like a lot, especially considering the low-ball they supposedly offered Morrison.

Comment from Demitra’s agent today:
“It’s great and that’s why it’s a great marketplace - he’s got a lot of options but I’m not at liberty to comment.”
No denial, no confirmation. So… I’d say it’s probably true.
